I am also using the EVS LVDS <---->ASI conversion. Got one on ebay for $25 from the seller you mentioned, real bargain.

Unfortunately, a lower model cannot be upgraded with a simple add-on card, as other broadcast gear can often be My Digitrans is the 7150T, has SDI but no ASI. I would have preferred ASI to SDI, since SDI decompresses the stream to full 270 megabit uncompressed--not the easiest thing to record to a hard drive. I do feel fortunate to own a Digitrans, so I'm not complaining
