I've been trying to come up with a design for a non-penetrating mount for my 10' C-band dish. I have been able to find most of the parts I would need at the local hardware store except for the main mounting post.

I need a 3.5" diameter steel post that is 6' tall. Anybody know where I can get one (USA)?

Here is a drawing of my design. Would use sandbags at the end posts to stabilize the dish.

Do you have a CDA Metals store? What you want is, 3" ID Schedule 40 pipe. I found a pipe in a store that sells used building materials. A well drilling company may have a decent used piece of well casing ( same size).

nearest one of those is Spokane (too far). I created an ad on craigslist, maybe somebody has one lying around.

You could easily get by with a 5 ft. My 10 is on the equivalent of 6 ft to the top of it and the lip is at least 2 ft off the ground. Even when 'healed' over to an extreme E or W direction with the actuator removed it's over a foot. But if you get snow piled up,???
Sched 40? Check at recyclers also. http://iscrapapp.com/
