I might have a chance to pickup a free, what looks like an 8' solid dish, with the lnb holder and mounting pipe. all i have to do is take it apart and haul it away. they put up a new 10' mesh dish at work and don't need the old one anymore. it's in great shape (almost new), but i'm wondering what the difference is between the mesh and the solid dishes and if i'll be able to use it to pickup some of the c band sats.

C Band shouldnt make much of a difference

KU works better with a solid dish

I use a 6 foot solid and love it. Works great :)

Berg do you have your 6' solid on a motor?

I wish

Nah. Its ghetto moved. Normally its on my deck (North side) where I can get AMC3 over to AnikF1 before the house blocks the signal (plus most of those satellites are about the same elevation)

I moved it in front of my garage (south side) to see what all I could get :)

If I put it on the deck, I couldn't use a motor/actuator. It sticks out too much and would hit the railing on the deck (I live in a townhouse so they wont let me bury it in the yard)

Yes that would hook up to a analog box just fine. The 6 foot dish would work if you buried a pole. If you use the frame that the 6' dish comes with it would need some modifications :)

I'm surprised you have a 6' dish living in a townhouse. :D

being VP of our HOA has some privlages :)

Nah. Actually I just put it up and said screw it. The head of our HOA I get along with and she doesn't care if I have it.

The neighbor guy (the ex head who didnt get along with anyone) changed his tune the day he couldnt get a Wisconsin game and I just happened to pick it up. We sat out in his garage with my dish, my box and his TV and had a good old time :D

Here is a picture of when it was on the deck. The spool in the left corner is what it goes on now (the table is for the T-90 dish). Second picture is when its front of the garage

Does it mount like a BUD or with U-bolts? My buddy likes my BUD and is wanting to use that dish with the extra CorotorII C/Ku and IRD I have.

Here is a couple pictures of the back. The frame mounts to the "O" ring (that hold the dish pieces together) with 6 brackets

So the motor would decide how it would mount to the mast?

NEVERMIND: they have a tiny embedded link that goes to the dish/motor installation. Thanks Berg! Sorry for all the questions.

pretty much

If you pole mount the dish, you wouldnt need that frame and the motor would somehow bolt tot he O ring (I assume)

The dish would have to be modified to fit. Several of us are waiting for the first brave soul to test this dish and motor combo. :) I see it is still not in stock though.

One Dish, Same Satellite, Two LNBs
