I just made the switch from Dish to DirecTV and the SD-DVR40 Tivo. Why no power button on the remote? Am I supposed to leave this thing on 24/7? Oh, and do the Tivos have any sort of 30-sec. jump forward or back feature like the Dish PVRs?

Congratulations on your switch to DirecTiVo! DISH DVR's pale in comparision.
There is no power button because the unit is always recording the last 30 minutes of content on each tuner. There is a standby mode on the front of the receiver itself, but standby does not completely power down the unit. Here is the link to enable the 30 sec skip on your remote http://www.weaknees.com/30/index.php
You should print these instructions and keep handy, as if your receiver ever has to be reset, unplugged, etc..., you will need to enable the 30 sec skip function again.
