Why X-Men Will Make Major Franchise Changes After Apocalypse
Through X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, the mutants known as Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) have gone through a hell of a lot. Beginning in the early 1960s, they wound up right smack dab in the middle of not only a massive societal change, but also the Cuban Missile Crisis. Then, about a decade later, they found themselves fighting for the future and against a horrific apocalyptic nightmare, saving humanity from giant machines that would ultimately create nothing but death and destruction. Their road has been a long one, but, according to writer/producer Simon Kinberg, that arc may soon be coming to an end. While answering fan questions as part of a recent fan Q&A hosted by Yahoo! UK, the filmmaker revealed that X-Men: Apocalypse is being strongly viewed as an end to a trilogy that began with X-Men: First Class and continued this past summer with Days of Future Past. The aim seems to be to provide some kind of conclusion for Xavier, Magneto, Mystique and Beast, who have grown and changed (some more literally than others) a great deal over time. Said Kinberg,
"The thrust of Apocalypse is really to complete the trilogy we began with First Class – to complete the stories of young Raven, young Hank, younger Charles and Erik. And complete this trilogy of four people who began the films sort of disparate and in different worlds who we’ve followed through the span of decades. So that’ll be the thrust. There will be familiar characters and new characters that we haven’t seen…ever…but it’ll be the completion of what we began in First Class." What makes this statement very odd is that fact that Professor X, Magneto, Mystique and Beast all play absolutely vital roles in the world of X-Men - so how could the franchise continue on without them? The simplest answer could be that future titles would center on the new younger versions of characters like Cyclops, Jean Gray and Storm, and follow their adventures, but how do you feature them and not feature Xavier and Beast as their teachers? Another possible solution is that 20th Century Fox may start looking at different teams that they have the rights to, like X-Force (which has already been developing) or Alpha Flight. Or maybe they'll just starting focusing more on solo titles, like the announced Deadpool and rumored Gambit. There are a number of interesting options, and it will be fascinating to see which directions they go in.
X-Men: Apocalypse, which is being directed by Bryan Singer and is being written by Kinberg, is scheduled to go into production next year and is currently dated on the release calendar for May 27, 2016. http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Why-X-Men-Make-Major-Franchise-Changes-Apocalypse-67424.html It needs a franchise change!! imo :)

Ryan Reynolds Returning as Deadpool https://www.yahoo.com/movies/ryan-reynolds-returning-as-deadpool-104359988492.html
Fox is closing a deal with Ryan Reynolds for a feature on Deadpool, the character he originated in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The film, which Fox is making in conjunction with Marvel Studios, is being directed by Tim Miller, who has done strong visual effects work through his VFX house Blur Films.Miller has been developing the film for several years, from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, with Lauren Shuler Donner producing. Reynolds and other cast have posted photos of Deadpool on Twitter, so clearly this is going. Production begins in March. When Reynolds made that first appearance as Deadpool, also known as Wade Wilson, he was a smart-mouthed mercenary with terminal cancer who undergoes military experiments in an attempt to replicate Wolverine’s mutant healing factor. He comes away with the ability to heal quickly — but for the price of being indestructible, he is rendered severely scarred. His acerbic attitude remains, though, earning him the nickname “The Merc with a Mouth.” Curiously, they quieted him, but that isn’t taking advantage of Reynolds’ quick wit. There are opportunities for a wise-cracking indestructible weapon who could take out a brigade of terrorists merely by blowing himself up in their midst. For Fox, this primes the X-Men pump. The studio recently set Bryan Singer to return as director of X-Men: Apocalypse, and that is the next film, with A Most Violent Year star Oscar Isaac playing that the character. The Deadpool film tentatively was scheduled to be released in February 2016. X-Men: Apocalypse will be released May 27, 2016.WME-repped Reynolds next stars opposite Anna Kendrick and Gemma Arterton in The Voices, and he starred with Helen Mirren and Katie Holmes in Woman In Gold. He also stars in the Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck-directed Mississippi Grind. David Weber is his attorney.

Hugh Jackman Talks X-Men: Apocalypse and Wolverine 3......Plus, “integrating the whole X-Men world.” http://in.ign.com/wolverine-3/71895/news/hugh-jackman-talks-x-men-apocalypse-and-wolverine
Hugh Jackman has confirmed what we all knew already: He’ll probably be in X-Men: Apocalypse. I mean, after the way Days of Future Past ended, how could he not be? “I have been speaking with the guys and I am not at liberty to tell exactly what’s going on,” he recently said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Slash Film). “Which is largely framing my answer here. But there’s still a lot unknown, actually, about that. What I do know is there are some very exciting things about integrating the whole X-Men world, including the Wolverine movie. There’s some really cool things going on.”

X-Men: Apocalypse has found its Storm, Cyclops and Jean Grey http://www.vox.com/2015/1/22/7876027/xmen-apocalypse-casting-storm-cyclops-jean-grey
For the last couple of weeks, comic book movie fans have been engrossed with the latest Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer and counting down the days until the movie's May 1 premiere date. However, on Thursday, there was some blockbuster news from a different corner from the Marvel that, for at least a little bit, got us talking about a different Marvel franchise — one that Marvel doesn't even own the film rights to.

Gina Carano and Colossus join Ryan Reynolds for 'Deadpool' https://tv.yahoo.com/news/gina-carano-colossus-join-ryan-004500373.html
I'm confused about something… why does "Deadpool" need comic relief? It looks like the long-rumored Tim Miller movie is finally moving forward, and once something starts casting, the momentum is such that I think it's safe to say there really will be a "Deadpool" movie.Adding Gina Carano to anything is fine by me. I am unfamiliar with Angel Dust, the character she's said to be playing, but after "Haywire," the movie that convinced me that James Bond should wear more adorable little hats, it's clear she's got the goods. I liked her performance in the film, and every time she goes into action mode, she is more than convincing. TJ Miller is the name they say will provide the "comic relief" for the movie. I'm still not sure why that would be required in a film about the Merc With The Mouth, but...

Four Reasons Why Colossus Needs an Image Overhaul https://games.yahoo.com/news/five-reasons-why-colossus-needs-215800983.html
If there's one thing you can say about Colossus' outfit, it's an iconic costume. While he's had a few different wardrobe changes throughout the years, currently, he's back to wearing the same outfit he appeared in back in 1975 in GIANT-SIZED X-MEN #1. Along with that red and gold outfit comes that crop-top haircut. Colossus has been keeping it "high and tight" for decades, except during the "bald is beautiful" era.Looking at Colossus right now, he doesn't look too bad, but the problem is that everyone else around him has gotten some sort of overhaul and looks contemporary, while Colossus still looks like a costumed hero from the 70s. I'm no fashion expert, but I have seen a lot of pre-award show red carpet interviews where Joan Rivers let us know who looked fabulous and who looked atrocious. I think that gives me enough credibility to let you know why Colossus needs and update.

The movie is set for release on March 3, 2017.Jackman first played the mutant in 2000’s “X-Men,” taking over the role from Dougray Scott after the actor sustained an injury. He has now assumed the role an unrivaled seven times, including two turns in his own offshoots — “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and “The Wolverine.”It’s unclear whether the actor will make cameos in “Apocalypse” and/or “Deadpool,” or if this photo is meant to put an end to those rumors as well.

Soon after, he teleported the image away from the Internet, just as he promised in a tweet that teased, “Catch him before he’s gone.”Smit-McPhee, an 18-year-old Australian who stars alongside X-Men cast mate Michael Fassbender in the new film Slow West, also posted a photo of himself as the nerdy blue mutant (seen above) — only to pull it as well.

Sophie Turner and Lana Condor are FLAWLESS in their 'X-Men: Apocalypse' costumes https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/sophie-turner-lana-condor-flawless-172400039.html
Children of the 90s, you may want to take a seat. If you grew up on Fox Kids Saturday morning cartoon block, you’re about to be rocketed back to your childhood. Bryan Singer just released the first official image of Sophie Turner (Jean Grey) and Lana Condor (Jubilee) from the upcoming “X-Men: Apocalypse” and the homage to the 90s cartoon is high.In fact, let’s play some appropriate theme music before we scroll down!

See Sansa Stark as a psychic mutant in X-Men: Apocalypse ....Bryan Singer shows Jean Grey and Jubilee in costume http://www.theverge.com/2015/4/30/8525873/x-men-apocalypse-jubilee-jean-grey-picture
Sophie Turner — the British actress who portrays Game of Thrones' Sansa Stark — is swapping medieval-style fantasy for mutant sci-fi. Turner is set to play powerful psychic Jean Grey in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, appearing for the first time alongside fellow mutant Jubilee, played by Lana Condor, in a picture shared on director Bryan Singer's Instagram account. It's been reported that the new movie, which follows X-Men: First Class and last year's Days of Future Past, is at least partially set in 1983, and Singer looks keen to evoke the fashion of the era. The first pictures of teleporting mutant Nightcrawler appeared earlier this week, showing the blue-skinned mutant sporting a clothing combo that Michael J. Fox's Teen Wolf might wear. Condor and Turner also sport period-appropriate dress in the new snapshot, making both Jean Grey and Jubilee — in her signature yellow jacket — look like they've just stepped out from an '80s disco at Professor X's famous school for the gifted.

Why these two characters are allowed to appear in both the 'X-Men' and 'Avengers' movies http://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-two-characters-allowed-appear-172409947.html
(Marvel) Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson play the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron."One of the biggest obstacles the "Avengers" sequel had to overcome was introducing, and constantly referring to two new characters, the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. In the comic world, fans know the super-powered brother and sister duo as X-Men. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, aka Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, are the children of Magneto, who has been played on screen by Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender, and are one of many characters referred to as mutants for having a gene which allows them super abilities.Naturally, you would expect to see the two in an "X-Men" film since Marvel licensed 20th Century Fox the rights to use those characters from Marvel in 1993. Last year, we sort of did. Evan Peters played a young, rambunctious version of Quicksilver, who quickly became a fan favorite. His sister, Wanda, was hinted at in a brief deleted scene.

X-Men: Apocalypse Probably Bringing In The Morlocks, Get The Details http://www.cinemablend.com/new/X-Men-Apocalypse-Probably-Bringing-Morlocks-Get-Details-71661.html
Part of the fun of the build up to superhero movies is the speculation and amateur sleuthing that goes on as we all try to figure out which of our favorite elements will make the transition from page to screen. In this day and age of ubiquitous social media, we often get hints and insight from the people involved in these movies, and now director Bryan Singer has told us that we can expect to see Caliban in his upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, and probably the Morlocks too.

Is Marvel Sabotaging the ‘Fantastic Four’ and ‘X-Men?’ http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl.../articles+(The+Daily+Beast+-+Latest+Articles)
Since Marvel doesn’t own the film rights to the Fantastic Four or X-Men, they’ve thrown a series of strange jabs against the 20th Century Fox-owned properties. It has, like Johnny Storm swelling with braggadocio, become readily apparent that something is rotten in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. No, I’m not talking about The Avengers slut-shaming Black Widow or Marvel’s alleged company-wide apathy towards women. It has to do with the bizarre series of events that have befallen the Fantastic Four—and, to a lesser degree, X-Men.As you may well know, on August 7, 2015, Fantastic Four will crash-land into multiplexes nationwide. It’s a reboot of those godawful mid-aughts monstrosities whose most notable assets were a shirtless, highly manicured Chris Evans and an early plum role for the Scandal-ous Kerry Washington. Hell, the guy who played the original Mr. Fantastic, Ioan Gruffudd, is receiving sixth billing in this weekend’s earthquake epic San Andreas. And I still don’t know how to pronounce either his first or last name.

Hugh Jackman Addresses 'Wolverine' Rumors http://www.stack.com/2015/06/10/hugh-jackman-wolverine/?utm_source=yahoo
There has been plenty of buzz lately about whether Hugh Jackman will reprise the role of Wolverine for the highly anticipated X-Men: Apocolype and/or Deadpool. Jackman had been coy concerning the future of his most famous character, but he recently addressed the rumors. During a guest turn on the Live with Kelly and Michael morning show, the actor confirmed that his upcoming Wolverine sequel will be the last time he plays the iconic character. The untitled movie will be released March 3, 2017.Jackman first played the popular Marvel mutant back in 2000 with X-Men, and it helped to establish the Australian-born actor's career in American cinema. The only actor to portray the character, Jackman has played Wolverine in seven films.Regarding the decision to move on, Jackman gave partial credit to comedian Jerry Seinfeld, who advised him to "end on a high" while referencing his own decision to end his successful sitcom Seinfeld.Jackman has plenty of other projects to keep him busy, including The Greatest Showman on Earth, out Dec. 25, 2016, in which he will play P.T. Barnum.

See Rogue Reunite With An Old Enemy In New X-Men Rogue Cut Image http://www.cinemablend.com/new/See-Rogue-Reunite-With-An-Enemy-X-Men-Rogue-Cut-Image-72254.html
X-Men: Days of Future Past featured many old favorites from the X-Men film series returning for more mutant fun. Unfortunately for Anna Paquin’s Rogue, most of her scenes ended up being cut from the film, leaving her only the briefest of cameos. Fortunately, we’ll get to see all of her scenes back in place in less than three weeks when 20th Century Fox releases the film’s Rogue Cut on home media, and to get fans pumped up, a new photo has been released of her alongside an old enemy: Magneto.
