Holy cow that is such a ripoff! Other prices look alright though. Charter over here has outrageous prices, and I have two friends that have Charter that have nightly slowdowns and dropouts. U-verse is a much better alternative for me.

For 3 dollars more than the 39.95 plan (1.5/384) we get 16/3, works out to around 14-16/2.25-2.75
Those are the nonbundled rates. It's cheaper when bundled with with a cable TV or phone package. They've raised the rates by $5 this year, I think. 20/4 was $62.95 standalone and $42.95 in a bundle. At my home home in IL I pay $37.50 for 8/4 wireless which is the fastest service available to me.

I pay $100 for landline phone with no long distance and 3.0 MB DSL service bundle. Average speed is 1.2MB. Such a bargain. Another $100 a month to DISH so I pay $200 a month for Internet/phone and TV. Have considered cell phone internet and dropping the land line. Verizon Wireless only here though and don't know if it is 3G.
