Will this EHD work with my VIP722 ?

Thinking about picking this up today, just wanted to know if anyone knew if it would work or not. I know I might have to put two partitions on the drive ?

It will, but you will need to disable it's sleep mode. I'd look for a WD same price or probably cheaper. The 722 will take over the formatting. No partitions.

I would also choose a WD over a Seagate. But yes, it will work, very important to do what KAB said and disable the sleep mode.

You'll only be able to run it as USB 2. USB 3 is not supported by Dish receivers. Yet.

I'm running a 2 TB like that, wiped the sw off, it works fine (has the 3.0 cable) ...

By the time Dish supports USB 3, USB 4 will be out. They will have to put out new receivers to implement USB 3.

Just bought one of the Seagates last week.
I ended up moving my Western Digital off of my computer to use for 722 and putting the Seagate on my computer.
Someone had mentioned that the Seagates used multiple platters and Western Digital uses only one.
Since I did not want to take any chances I used the WD drive.
It is true that Seagate uses multiple platters, but I am not sure if it is true that they cause problems with the Dish boxes supporting them.
Just my two cents.
