My Series 10 seems to be working fine for tracking exercise.
I went out for a twenty minute walk outdoors and it tracked my distance and exercise just fine. I'll have to keep an eye on my next Indoor walk.

I used the Apple Support app to try and figure out why my Apple Watch Series 11 isn't tracking my Indoor Walk Workout properly. The A.I. Assistant had me reset the Fitness Calibration which required a 20 minute walk outdoors on rarely level ground so my watch and phone could sense my gait and cadence.

I ended up walking 23 minutes and going over 1.28 miles, so I came back and tried another Indoor Walk. Nope, still not tracking it as Exercise. So I said I was going on an Outdoor Walk, but I was staying indoors. This time, I saw that my eight minute walk yielded an increase from 76 to 84 minutes of Exercise tracked. So it is definitely something off with the Indoor Walk on my watch under watchOS 27.0!

I went back to the Apple Support app and they escalated this incident to a telephone call, so I spent 20 minutes trying to relay what I was observing and the steps I was taking to try and get it to work. After I tried a few things (Privacy settings for sharing Mobility Data and Location Data with the Fitness App, plus restarts) the CSR made notes on the Incident and sent me a Case Number I can use to get updates on the status.

So it's not just Scott who has to deal with me breaking their stuff.

I picked up the Apple Watch Series 12 today at the Apple Store and traded in my Ultra 1. The dark bronze color along with the same color malinese band looks sharp, though it does pull on my arm hairs every now and then. I'm liking that it seems so much lighter than the Ultra and I'm looking forward to trying out the sleep tracking. It powered on with 82% and 9 hours later it has only used 20% so I'm hoping that means long battery life for daily use. The smaller screen size compared to the Ultra doesn't bother me and the case itself being thinner is a plus for me. I just hope the aluminum case and watch face hold out well against scratches as I lost count how many times I accidentally bumped my Ultra against surfaces and never saw a scratch anywhere.

I saw that watchOS 27.0.1 dropped sometime in the last week, so I updated my Series 11 today and went on a six-minute Indoor Walk. Nope. Still not tracking my Exercise. So I fired up the Support App and it made a Genius Bar appointment for me.

I'll make it short: the steps taken to diagnose and fix my problem probably didn't work. I say "probably" because after I recalibrated my Apple Watch with a 20+ minute Outdoor Walk, I did a 6 minute Indoor Walk which did track 3-4 minutes of Exercise and 0.25 miles (it should have been closer to 0.35 miles).

So, the Apple Genius said to try it out tomorrow and see if it works. If not, I will need to work with the Apple Watch Activities team to figure out what's going on. Since everything was working up until watchOS 27, I'm inclined to believe that I am experiencing a bug that the recent update still hasn't resolved. But at least the Watch Diagnostics prove the hardware is solid.
