Winegard Carry Out Satellite Question with Dish Network

We purchased the Winegard Carry Out for the RV and it works very well. We store the Carry Out inside the RV when we're not traveling.

We take one of the unused 612 receivers in the house and move it to the RV when we plan on traveling. We didn't have that receiver powered up or hooked up to the Dish Network while it's in the house, so when we plan on traveling we'd have to call Dish Network to reboot the signal when the receiver was in the RV. We're getting tired of having to calling them to go through that drill.

At this point, we'd like to now keep this 612 receiver continually updated by keeping it powered up when its in the house, and then move it into the RV when we need to. I don't want to leave the Carry One outside, plugged in all the time in order to keep the receiver updated.

Here are my questions:

The Carry Out must have the 612 receiver device setting on "SW64" which is no problem doing. However, when we disconnect the receiver from the RV Carry Out and hook it up to the house roof mounted Super Dish…..do we need to perform a "CHECK SWITCH" which would put the device settings on "DPP 1K.2, 1K.2(1), 1K.2(2), 1K.2(3)" in order for the receiver to capture Dish Network updates?

If we leave the 612 receiver powered up in the house and capture the Dish Network updated programing while on setting DPP 1K.2, 1K.2(1), 1K.2(2), 1K.2(3)….. will the receiver be able to be moved to the RV and switched back to the SW64 setting and retain all those Dish Network updates?

Thanks

You have to run the check switch every time you move the receiver to the Winegard dish, and the dish on your home.

Other than that, so long as the receiver is getting signal, it will accept any authorization signals we send to it. Since it's been disconnected for a while, we would need to send a "hit" to it to reauthorize the programming on it, and it won't lose this authorization if you switch the receiver to the other dish

The whole idea of the check switch is to see what satellites are in view, and check that the correct switch(es) for the instillation are installed, as well as then updating to program guide to match. So in that sense it's pretty much automatic. When you first turn on your receiver at whatever location you are at, it will do a check switch and should get you connected. Since it was plugged in at home, yes it will retain any updates it got.
As you may have found, leaving a receiver unplugged for a long enough time makes it impossible to simply plug in and get it going. It often requires a programming "hit" from Dish.

How often does Dish Network update their programing?
Do they do it daily or weekly?
How long can you leave the receiver unplugged before you must request a programing "hit" from Dish?

Again, thanks for the help
