Xbox Live Confusion

Hey all,

I've had an Xbox for a couple weeks now, and got it online just the other day. I signed up for a free month of Live Gold, and my profile on my machine was replaced with a Live profile.

Is there a way I can still play off line? When I fire up Test Drive Unlimited, I automatically login. Am I still going to be able to access my saved game when my 1-month free trial of Gold ends?
