When I was a kid I was often found in front of an old Zenith tube radio at night sweeping the airwaves. My mother always had the radio on in the kitchen while she was cooking and baking. There was always that hum of the radio in the background as I did my homework at the kitchen table. Radio was always a big part of my life, and still is. Radio has changed in so many ways since then though. And with the advent of the internet a whole new way of listening to the radio has been flourishing. But its not the same, is it? Occasionally I stumble across a streaming radio station that allows me to step back in time and listen to radio the way it used to be. Or maybe stream an episode of Abbot and Costello or some other old time radio show. My latest find is Zoomer Radio out of Toronto, CA. They play a wide variety of what I listened to as a child mixed with modern content as well. I'll never get back that fascination of being a 9 year old staring at a glowing dial trying desperately to pull a distant station out of the static. But I can get a little taste of it.
Life was so much simpler back then. [Sigh...]
