NBA Basketball 2009-10 Season

Q: How did the Cavs suddenly forget how to play defense since the All-Star break? This used to be a defensive minded team! Right now, there are junior varsity teams who have a better understanding of defensive responsibility than the Cavs do tonight. It is stunning. In the first quarter, the Celtics shot 77 percent and could easily be 90 percent. I'm serious.

Cavs/Celtics and Nuggets/Warriors- that's a must-see doubleheader.

You've got the Cavs, trying to get their chemistry right with Jamison, against a Celtic teams that has fared well since the All-Star Break.

As for the late game- I'm a sucker for shootouts. First to 123 wins!

The Nuggets are 12-10 against teams below .500! This is a team who lacks focus and plays down to their competition. Despite the on-paper advantage the Nuggets have in this one, expect the Warriors to make a game of it.

They did a MUCH better job in the second half.

BTW, one thing I noticed is that Jamison and Mo Williams are wearing what I think look like shoulder protectors under their jerseys.

What exactly are they? Just wondering.

Perhaps my criticisms of my team was a bit premature. :D

Either that, or they listened to my rant at halftime. In the 2nd half, the Cavs stopped Rondo from the easy drives to the lane, as a team they played WAY better defense, Mo Williams remembered how to drain a basket and JJ Hickson came in for Jamison and played like a beast.

108-88! An impressive road win for the Cavs. Especially considering the way the game started and especially after losing Shaq to injury.

Both are coming off shoulder injuries. The gear on the shoulder is to protect and keep warm their injured shoulders as they heal.

Well, I had this one right- first to 123 wins. Denver got 127.

That was a fun-game to watch-up-tempo with great scorers.

Basketball can be a beautiful game on nights liike this.

The Boston Celtics are capable of beating any team in the league for the first 30 minutes of a game.:(

Your team seems to struggle against smaller, more athletic line-ups, sans a center (ala the Atlanta Hawks). When Shaq went down, the Cavs went small and quick and the momentum shifted. We ran you guys out of the building. I am excited to see the creative rotations Mike Brown will tinker with if Shaq is gone for an extended period...

The defense has been REALLY bad. Williams and Jameson were getting beat like drums in the first half last night. Let's hope something clicked and they're back on track. The 2nd half was a thing of beauty.

Jameson looks lost on both ends of the court. He's learning a new system, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt - - - - for now.

If he doesn't work out, I hope Mike Brown has the stones to insert JJ Hickson in his place. There's no denying that when Hickson is on the court (right now), the team is more dangerous. He's super aggressive on both ends of the court. Yeah, I know he's young, but I really am beginning to like Hickson. He has a very bright future.

I'm liking Hickson a lot. He brings a ton of intensity and energy every time he steps onto the floor. He's a bit like a mini-Varajao with a little more O and a little less D.

Yep. And the scary thing is that if Hickson was still in College, he'd only be a Junior! I'm willing to bet that if he were coming out in this draft, he'd be a lottery pick, if not the #1 overall.

...not if a whole bunch of other guys had also stayed in college and not come into the NBA early. ;)

Let's not get carried away. You have to take into consideration that the NBA was more suited for his game....the college game might have been too constrained to his talents. There have been alot of guys where the NBA was more suited for his style.
