Your Predictions For The New Year

I predict a new receiver like the Joey and it will vacuum the floor automatically at night if left in standby. It will probably really annoy my cat.

I dont see this one happening since it has been published that DISH and DISNEY have come to an agreement over the pricing of the channels.

Aren't they still haggling over digital rights? If it was easy and all the costs were known, wouldn't the deal already be done and announced? I wouldn't be shocked to see another increase this year. Don't Viacom and other providers, including the RSNs, have escalators that could account for the $5 increase announced thus far?

Yup still talking about Digital Rights... something that was not even thought about a few years ago... and now they must work to make sure they got all bases covered for any future changes which no one has even thought of yet. :D

Maybe No more Blackouts for NFL but would like to see them for college sports as well.
Maybe Dish will get all the ESPN's and Disney stuff behind them and we get some HD channels back.
Maybe a Hopper 2 maybe with 4 tuners and able to export recordings to all platforms like Windows Tablets and Android so forth.
Maybe a Hopper Tablet would be a cool thing.
Maybe more Improvements to the Hopper itself.

Just some ideas I guess. :)

I predict that 3D will stay away from Dish and slow down on enhancements while focusing on tweaking the issues that are not fully stable and functional with the service at this time. I predict that following that business plan will keep my bill from accelerating and exceeding the red line.

Dish will roll out program to insert commercials into programming based on an individual account's viewership history.

Dish and Disney smooch and make up.

The newest Hopper does something neat, but not too neat.

Potential streaming to Roku.

No 4k development because it is a waste of resources and money. 3D was a bust (again) and 4k will be no better for the typical household (so stop whining about them not having it after you become an idiotic early adopter when there was virtually no media for it in the first place!!!).
I predict Dish will lose between 100,000-200,000 customers during CY2014.
I predict that there will be equally widespread loss for sat/cable/fiber companies.

Please...tell us how you really feel...stop holding back! :boink:

4k will probably give us decent 2k channels. Sort of like how HD is only a slight improvement over broadcast full bandwidth SD really looks before being overly compressed. HD could be a lot better on Dish if they did not mux so many channels together and bit starve the channels. I am sure they will bit starve down the UHD channels to where they look about as good as Blu Ray looks.

As to the Super Hopper, more apps. But I can't help but wonder if they'll include HDMI 2.0 support. After all, nobody said the Super Hopper will be shipping next month. And then, they could later, after a critical mass is reached, provide some UHD titles On Demand/PPV.

well, I foresee the same future for Dish and Direct, the only changes they will have are "prices go up, quality and customer satisfaction go down" the end. I will also now point out the ridicule I got when I said ESPN/Disney contract would NOT be resolved before the first of the year. less than 32 hours left doubters!

I predict dish will add the aereo app to the hopper thus ending these ridiculous local channel fights
