HD or SD locals on Conus

I don't know about Dish anymore but you can get US HD locals from Detroit and Seattle (you can even get both!) from Shaw Direct. This is a Canadian service and you will have to give a Canadian address or use a broker. I do miss the rest of the US programming living in southern Mexico but Dish...

Is Radio Shack hopeless for this hobby, or is it just mine?

The internet is the only one stop shop now. Not the same as poking around sme dusty bins though.

REAL WORLD Mexico City (or farther south...) Shaw Direct report wanted...

Great pics! I will try to do something similar this weekend. I don't really have anything to point at with my other 3 antennas yet, but getting all SD on one antenna is a good start. I'm only hanging on to SD for the networks and NFL in HD as much of the other programming seems very repetitive...

When you have this lnb set-up install, post pics. I also am tying up 2 large antennas and would love to put all Shaw on one antenna.

    NBC East/Central HD

I see in Lyngsat that NBC is HD Encrypted. How is this available for HD FTA receivers? I also am thinking of moving an antenna to AMC 18 and see Hits Channels there as well, but this appears to be a cable distribution for Comcast?? Is there any way to subscribe to or view Hits? I'm in Mexico and...

    U.S. Networks

CBS east in HD is on the F2 satellite on transponder 12 while the other east HD US networks are on transponder 15 on the same satellite. You might be just enough out of line to get tp 12 while not receiving tp 15. On tp 15, there is also CBC Regina in SD. Can you get that? If that cnannel is...

Setting the skew on a 3 ft. dish

One more observation, the lnb arm needs to be the one made for the antenna as the focal point is specific to each diameter and shape of antenna. Using an arm from a smaller antenna would place your lnb inside of where the focal point of the signal is.

Setting the skew on a 3 ft. dish

The larger eleptical Starchoice antenna should work if the signal strength is sufficient; I have read about folks in Guadalajara and maybe Mexico City with these and moderate signal unless it rains. It will be important to get your hands on the lnb that is made for that antenna as it is...

Playa del Carmen - Mexico - HELP

The only experience I have is buying 3 antennas from them over the last 6 or 7 years. Quality seems good. Talk to them to see what you can work out. I'm sure someone there speaks English being in Guadalajara and in the sat business.

Playa del Carmen - Mexico - HELP

They are fiberglass. I'm sure he would sell and arrange to ship to you via DHL or UPS but this may be a little expensive and customs may be due. This possibly won't be too bad if NAFTA covers antennas. The $50 little old truck with a tarp and 4 guys who live in the truck shipping method is...

Setting the skew on a 3 ft. dish

I have 99 signal strength on F1R using a 1.8m antenna and 94 on F2 using a 2.4m antenna in Villahermosa. I used 2 antennas as I already had them from a Dish installation; I imagine if I had to have bought them, I couldmhave had sucess on 1.2m or even smaller. If you already have a...

Playa del Carmen - Mexico - HELP

www.antenas.com.mx I have 2 of his 1.8m and one 2.4 m. The pricing is reasonable, quality is good and shipping is incredibly cheap for the size and weight. I think the 2.4m was around $50 US for shipping from Guadalajara to Tabasco. I had some wind damage once and needed new lnb support arms...

Playa del Carmen - Mexico - HELP

I'm not sure if you can only have 61.5 without 119 as you have to set up your receiver in a multisatellite configuration that expects 119 to be the main signal. When i originally set my system up, 119 had decent strength and i had to install it first and then add additional satellites. Maybe...
