If I had to choose, ESPN classic HD would be above MLB HD also. As is though, I am still impressed with the MLB channel, and hopefully we will get the other soon
I'd still have to go with MLB-HD over ESPN Classic HD...only because you will probably get more HD content on MLBN. ESPN Classic I'm sure can show some interesting film based content like NFL Network does, but if its taped...well...its not going to give you very much in termsl f HD.
There is a reason. The same reason why all content providers raise prices each year. There is also a difference. For some reason E claims to save money by negotiating good deals, yet the prices are still pretty much the same. At the same time, Dish's profits and sub gains (in fact having a net loss last quarter) have not been good the last few quarters, especially when compared to other providers. Charlie must be doing something wrong???
With that being said. I also believe that MLB may change the EI with MLBN requirement for those providers willing to pay for it. I hope Dish takes a leap and tries to get this channel. Stop worrying about the cost of every little thing. Sometimes one has to take a temporary loss in order to gain in the future.
Note: This is not meant to be a Dish bash. I would love to see Dish succeed and although Dish and Direct may merge, I am would be against it. Healthy competition and success is key for both providers.
Even though it went live a couple of days ago, I believe they did have this channel officially uplinked with a promo loop running a month ago.

All things considered, I think it was Scobuck and myself who's posts pretty much closed the door here on any possibility of E* offering MLBN any time soon to the average subscriber. I mean, Sco postied the proof that MLBN is being carried in conjunction with EI at the moment. Combine that with the fact that its highly doubtful that Charlie is going to change his tune with regards to EI just for one new channel, all things considered, fiancial feasibility and otherwise, and you pretty much just elminate the possibility that any E* sub is going to be enjoying MLBN in HD any time soon...
What I'm more curious about is for how many current E* subs, this would be the breaking point. The channel itself is obviously drawing some interest here, even from E* subs who weren't interested enough in EI to switch to begin with.
Another thing I'm curious about is that if you already sub to EI with another provider, why would you even NEED MLBN? You would already have that and more if you have EI? Just a thought...

IIRC, MLB and DirecTV started out as the only owners and then, when Congress stepped into the matter and put pressure on MLB, other carriers became part owners. So, contact MLB if you're a Dish subscriber...they have the strongest position in the network. But Selig and Co. were sure adamant about keeping this exclusive to DirecTV at one point.

My only child is my daughter...that's not a very nice thing to say...she's fine just the way she is.
It was a line from "Robin Hood: Men in Tights". Just a joke, and it was delivered in a positive way in the movie.
You get the games, and some news with EI, but from what I have seen on MLB, there is alot of news and coverage that EI doesnt offer (or any other channel for that matter). There are old games, stadium specific cameras (which I cant wait to see), ect. Its just another way to get what one wants when it comes to baseball.
Not to mention you also get this channel now, in the off season, when you don't get EI.
