Here's the quote I was looking for earlier when some one asked about WHY the players would be able to play in the Bowl game ....
This is the NCAA now:
The We Didn't Know defense was cited by the NCAA as one mitigating factor in this decision. Another was the fact that postseason play provides a "unique opportunity" and is "evaluated differently" when it comes to suspensions, according to an NCAA Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement policy that was enacted in 2004.
Whatever that is suppose to mean.
My take on this is, Yes, they should not have sold stuff, but it does BELONG to them, so you would think they could do whatever they wanted with them.
Why do these guys need all of this ?
Someone asked about Why if they valued the school they would sell these items ?
They have won the Big Ten every year they have been here and get a ring each year, they all have the "Gold Pants" for beating Michigan.
What do they need with 3 of each of them ? I see no harm in selling a few of them.
I think the NCAA is WAY over board on this suspension as I've mentioned before.
Also expect a huge outcry from the rest of the people IF they decide to reduce this penalty.
On the other hand:
Why does any of this come out at this very moment ?
The School had to know about it, keep your mouth shut till after the Bowl game ...
No wait, it happened in '09, so the school had already talked to the NCAA, so it was the NCAA that decided to bring it to light RIGHT NOW ....
Yes, the same NCAA that wants the revenue from the team at the BcS game ......
Ever notice how these things come out just before the BIGGEST GAME of the year ....
Ala CAM Newton, who YES you can admit it, TOOK MONEY and got away with it because that same NCAA wanted Auburn IN a BcS game, THE game this year, otherwise they probably would have lost without him, but the NCAA took care of that now didn't they ....
We'll hear more in a few years about the money Mr. Newton is living on. Count on it. Otherwise, he would have gone to school where HE wanted to.
So the NCAA plays games to get what they want ... again.
