They said that 3 channels will be rolled out at 12:01 A.M. tomorrow. They are FNC HD, Weather Channel HD, HBO 2 HD. Then the last week of september they will roll out 5 more. During october they will roll out 5 to 10 a week until they get to a 100 by the end of the year. They said they had some sort of a site that we could view, didnt specify.
That stinks:mad:!

Thats one well informed CSR.

the lady was nice and very informative, but she said they wont have 70 until November

Unfortunately nice and appearing to be informative are not necessarily the best indicator of what happens. It definately wont be 70 this month so the staggering is right but it isnt the first time a CSR thought they had all the facts only to be misinformed. While nice, most folks tend to take a CSR's word with a grain of salt. Only reason why we think the 19th is a go for the first wave of HD is that all of them are saying it now.

FNC HD? That would be a big surprise.. I suspect it would even be a surprise to FNC. If they mean Fox News Channel anyway.

THey have got to put up channels people watch. Not many people will be watching FNC HD. Not many will sub to HBO HD. I think they will be putting up at least 10 IMO. 3 to 4 come on... It would be different if it was FoodTV A&E CNN, History (which was to be on Sept 1) on directv first. I doubt that CSR or any really know what channels are coming online tomorrow.

I spoke to one yesterday and she named off at least 20 when I asked what would be on first. She was nice and informative also.

Found this on another site.

New HD channel rollout and new pricing structure for HD
Programming starts 9/19

3 existing HD channels (HDNet, HDNet Movies, & Universal HD) will be
combined with 3 new HD channels to form the new “DIRECTV® HD XTRA
PACK”. There will be a $4.99/month additional price for the new HD-XTRA PACK which will include:

HDNet
HDNet Movies
Universal HD
MHD
MGM HD
Smithsonian HD

(Not sure if these are included with Premier or not but they seem to be)
The HD Xtra pack will be free until 12/15/07.

They have taken those HD channels that don’t align with an SD version and priced those separately for customers who want to receive that unique programming.

Customers that have activated prior to 9/19/07 will receive the package free
until 12/15/07. After which, the package will be cancelled unless they call to continue (and pay).

Schedule:

HD channels that exist today will continue to be broadcast on their current
channel numbers as well as the new location. E.g. ESPN HD will continue
to be on ch. 73 as well as ch. 206 (where the SD channel also resides).

Even if it's the same. THey better turn on a few more than what this CSR told the OP. If that is all they do there will be a huge forum uproar across the net. Sure they would be finally turning them on, but you have to feed the hungry who've been starving for sometime now. Don't just throw us a bone, give us some meat.

I remember the PDF you're talking about but I don't recall it having all of those specific dates.
There were several "training tools" posted between the fifth and the seventh. Some were more detailed than others. The key thing that came out of the discussion of the one dated 9/6 that had the DIRECTV Cyclone on it was that that list was already out-of-date.

I strongly suspect that a number of the documents were derived by third parties from earlier documents and each incarnation had details "added" to make it look more credible or up-to-date based on the latest rumors.

Just so you know I don't think your CSR was well informed since FNC and HBO2 isn't even on D* website list. See for yourself,

DIRECTV: DIRECTV - HD Programming

First, why are you posting this on the E* forum? Second, obviously the info was wrong because FNC HD doesn't exist yet, don't think that Weather HD is up yet either and the other channels are scheduled for 2008. Third, only 2 posts and just on this thread, perhaps a D* troll here to stir the pot?

Why is this in Dish HD????

What is the purpose of posting DirecTV information in a Dish Network HD forum?

I don't really care what DirecTV does since I'm a Dish customer!!!

And you believed them? Sorry, but they are NOT what I would exactly call a "reputable source."
