Dish 622/722 L446 Software Release Notes

No they didn't.... A CSR can't target individual receivers for s/w updates.
Hall,

Sorry, but I have to disagree somewhat. On a couple of occasions I have activated receivers and had the CSR send a hit. A few minutes later the receiver was downloading a software update. I believe the hit includes the update in some situations so that E* does not have unsupported versions out there. However, I do not believe the CSR can force a specific version - just an update to the current baseline version.

Cheers,
Red

Red,

That's because the update was already in the stream. Once the CSR sent the hit, it began downloading what was available out there for the receiver. Sometimes receivers don't get the update until they're activated.

They can still target individual receivers but when I say they I mean the Software Engineering department not the CSRs.

All indications are that only the engineering side can target specific receivers, not CSR-level people. A "hit" is different than a software update. A brand-new receiver, from what I understand, has very basic s/w installed, certainly nothing in the normal range, i.e. L4.xx level. When it's activated, it becomes visible in their systems and it then receives the current, full phase software version. For example, a receiver activated today (I don't believe L4.46 is full phase yet), will update from it's core s/w to L4.45.

Makes sense... Some updates are already in the stream, CSRs cannot force updates, only engineering can force a specific update.

Thanks!

Yeh... this is exactly what happen, the CSR said to me "well you know you have the latest update L445" I tried to explain the roll-out of L446 but they have no control over this other than initiate updates that have been released as the "most recent" to them that is L445.

External HDD Even List Sorted - Yea

I have 446.
Can I believe my eyes?
Has this been covered already?
Is the list of events on the external HDD now sorted?

I should have played with it more, but I have a transfer in progress.

Looks like the External HDD event list is picking up the sort setting from the PVR list.

Yeah, what is the hold up? If you are going to launch this feature then launch to everyone!
I would imagine that they are trying to determine:
- how many people want to pay to download old movies
- how much $$ they need to spend on bandwidth (hmm.. 13 million customers each download a movie tonight. how much megabits we need at the POP)
- how many ISPs are gonna block their traffic (ISP thought process: customer buys internet from me but gets their TV from dish. Do I want them downloading movies from Dish when they could be paying me for them instead?)
- how badly it's broken (or not, if they got lucky for once) :D

This will be useful.....Now if they would just provide a 'delete' option after stopping playback of the external drive, I would be one happy camper!

I received 446 this morning but as of 7am I couldn't access any of the movie info. I could pull up the menus and that was it.

I got L446 on at least 2 of the 3 receivers last night. Seeing the same thing where there was no information for the DishOnline stuff.
