Hello everyone

I heard about FTA several years ago and have wanted to learn more about it for about a year. Trying to make time to learn has been impossible, so I just went ahead and bought a coolsat 5000 with a dish. Because of this investment I now have to make time to learn, so here I am. I've looked and found this to be the best site to learn about FTA basics, troubleshooting and installs. So, if someone can direct me to the nubie area, I would appreciate it.
It is my understanding that I have to download a file for my coolsat in order to view the FTA channels. Can some one just point me to the download area aswell? I have worked with computers, lans, wans and educational software for about 15 years, so I have some knowledge of downloads, uploads, and installs. I hope to be a productive member of this community in the near future.

Hi,

I am a Technology enthusiast interrested in the Satellite TV technology. I live in Montreal, Canada, and I have been a Bell ExpressVu client for the last 5 years. So far, I am very disappointed with Bell service. They never have any promotion for existing clients. The exciting new technology is only offered to their new customers. This is frustrating. I am still using the same equipment I bought 5 years ago: Bell ExpressVu 2700 and 3700 receivers. I hope you guys have a Canadian section. I want information that is relevant to our Canadian situation. In the next few months, I want to upgrade my equipment for HD TV. So I am looking forward to getting valuable information from your discussion forums. There are two areas that I want to explore:
1) The Bell ExpressVu 2700 and 3700 receivers have no internal clock and therefore no capability to switch channel at a given time. This is for the purpose of recording TV programs especially when you are away and need to record from more than one TV channels. I want to learn more also about "IR Blasting" capability offered in the ExpressVu 3100/4100.
2) I still have standard TVs in my home but I am looking forward to upgrading to HD TV by Christmas this year. This will probably involve a number of related changes, not just a new TV set.

I've been lurking for a while and am about to get started with FTA. This is a great site with lots of good information and some great people who are willing to help!

I look forward to participating!

Hello all,
I am a few days old member. So far, I have noticed the people on this site try very hard to be helpfull to otheres and I realy appreciate that. I have been playing around with FTA for the last 5+ years, mostly locking to Intelsat 5 (IA 5). Started with a Satcruiser, then when it died switched to Samsung and lately ended up with a Viewsat (mainly for the external PVR capability) which still trying to figure it out to get the TPs working. I also have D* with HD and DVR for the others in the house!
Glad to be here and hope that I can contribute as well.

New Member

Hello,

I've been fascinated with Sat TV for the past 12 years, since I got my C band dish, primarily for BBC, and the NASA channel. When Dish Network started carrying BBC America (and NASA) I moved to their small dish. I've kept up with their latest receivers (Dish Player was my favorite - is there any other receiver that has a full Qwerty keyboard?), and am now enjoying the 722 in HD. Was born in England, but now live in Northridge, California.

Greetings all from the United Kingdom. I have Sky Sports, NASN (North American Sports Network) and Setanta Sports and enjoy mainly news and sport. I stumbled upon this site whilst trying to find out what has happened to DBSForums which is down again.

Converting DISH 1000 to a SUPER DISH

Hello I have a dish 1000, and I was wanting to convert the three single LNBS to a DISH 500, and receive my 119, 110, and 105, Is this possible or is the spacing on the LNBS going to be an issue for a Super Dish which call for a dual lnb and a single?:hatsoff:
