SEC is #1 and until someone else wins the title, it is all talk.

*Throws gasoline onto the fire* :D

I agree!!!!:) If Les Miles does not do too much coaching the next few games. LSU will be there and will win it again. Then he can go ahead and go to Michigan and LSU will have a real coach.

I think you miss understood my meaning. I am fedup with the talk about their speed and like the Big Ten has no speed. Even though he is gone, I guess Ted Ginn was slow of foot compared to the SEC guys!

Robbie,
If the OSU guy runs a 4.35 and the SEC guy runs a 4.35, according to the SEC guys, they win.
They had a tougher track to run on :D

Whens the last time LSU won it all ???

I hope Les Carr does go to M and who is it that LSU has already lined up to coach, it sounds like you have someone already under contract that is clearly better ...

No Coach Tressel is NOT available.

Didn't look like such a tough schedule now does it ?

Miss St, Middle Tennesee, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi and normally Kentucky.

Now thats a whole lot tougher than the schedule that OSU played this year ???

Jimbo

Damn!! They'll run right through Louisiana Tech, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

Theres another thing I've got a beef with,
They have 3 games left, we've got 1, therefore they have off weeks during the season so they can rest up, I think everyone should play from start to finish, no setting up a week off before your tough games....

plus they will have a CC game to boot.

EVERYONE should be done playing by the Thanksgiving weekend if I had my way, then you wouldn't have teams with 2-3 weeks off during the season.

Just another unfair advantage...

Jimbo

When it is all said and done it really stinks that teams have to take a 5-7 week break before they have to play bcs championship game. Neither team will play like they did a few months back. In other words, we need a damn playoff to name a Real champion.

Yup,
We've discussed this yearly !

All games should be done by the end of November and playoffs start the first week of Dec.
No more 2-3 weeks scheduled as off weeks for the SEC teams.

Actually a guy in town has a scenario that the playoffs would start the Thanksgiving weekend and the first round would be done that w/e.
He's suggesting 16 teams as was I.

How many conferences are there ?

There are 11 plus the Independants, so we would have to figure a way to get all the conferences in (division1). and have enough spots for at large as well, I don't think 4 at large are enough, maybe we can make it 24-25 teams in out tournament !!!

Simple solution. 11 conference champions get automatic bids, and 5 at large are available.
Also, reduce the number of teams required for a conf. championship game to 10 or even 8.
5 at large bids should be enough, because that should be able to include any championship contenders, especially with conferences having a championship game to award their automatic bid.

Even works with current schedules...

Dec. 1st - Conference Championship Game (where it is now)
Dec. 8th - Week Off
Dec. 15th - Opening Round
Dec. 22th - Quarter Finals
New Years Day - Semi Finals
Week after New Years - National Championship (where it is now)

I think we're all forgetting these kids are supposed to be student athletes who are supposed to be working on their education first and foremost. I am sorry, but I care more about my nephew receiving a quality education than I do about him beating OSU, MSU or Notre Dame combined. These kids need to have more time to focus on their education, play a little football, and let the pundits argue who is better. The current situation is that these kids don't have time for serious study because "football" is an all-consuming way of life for more than six months out of the year. My nephew will graduate with a Liberal Arts degree this year. The only problem is he came to UM with a 1370 SAT score and a desire to major in chemical engineering...no time for that "nonsense" in his busy schedule.

Do we really need every OL to be 300+ pounds and each RB/WR to run the 40 at world-class speeds? Do we really need to subject these kids to even more injuries just so we can watch some goofy playoff games? Why do so many of our student athletes major in Liberal Arts...yet, they cannot write in complete sentences, nor form meaningful paragraphs, nor think in a linear fashion, and dangle their participles...split their infinitives...and don't know how to place a noun after their verbs. What is wrong with this? (e.g. this?, this what...picture?...situation?...world?) Ugh! Likewise, why do communications majors "AXE" questions? Wouldn't a communications major "ASK" questions? Yikes! It sounds like we will be dealing with this individual when we pull-up to his pump and axe for five dolla wuffa regla.

Get rid of the stupid conference playoff games, get rid of the BCS, and return to the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic.

I don't know your nephew, but other student/athletes have completed degrees in very serious subjects. He can still thank Michigan for the education (free?) he may not have got, if he didn't play football. I started my college education at Michigan, but had to transfer because I couldn't afford it. Your nephew was very fortunate, and at least he's getting a degree from on of the more prestidgious university's in America. Tell him I said "well done".

Keep in mind that it is only half of the teams that advance each week.
So you have 16 teams in week one and then only 8 and 4 and 2, so it really ISN"T impacting that many teams / players.

Besides, division AA does it without damaging the student and the NCAA Basketball teams are gone in Alaska and Jamacia and so forth and it doesn't ruin them, and they play 2-3 games a week.

Most of these kids wouldn't be in college if it wasn't for athletics.

As does Division II, Division III, etc...

I would ask any kid that plays football in college what they would like to do. I would bet that at least 90% would want some type of playoff. Lets not forget also. This is BIG business. When they figure out how to make more money with a playoff. It will be a done deal. Lets just hope it will be sooner than later!!

It's obvious that Div I-A should be able to work out a playoff system like the rest of the divisions. Something is holding the powers that be back. Maybe they're worried about possible player salaries?
