funny...you're getting a better signal quality than I am. I just hooked up my CW to 93 to see

See, the thing on that is that I had beyond stellar advise on setting this thing up ;)

(so do those Home of Economy & Hugo's commercials bring you back to GF?) ;)
Yes! And I want to hit Whitey's and the strip in East Grand Forks tonight now! Those dahlstrom commercials sure suck,eh? No wonder you couldn't remember the name of that dealership in olso earlier in this thread!

Did you get it figured out for left only audio?
I haven't heard any cue tones or other funkyness so far, so I haven't done anything.

Hey, bonus! That UND 125 commerical where they do a time lapse of the people gathering in the quad to spell out UND? We were back visiting when they did it -- my wife is somewhere in green near the top of the 'U'.

Heck of a first period...

yes those dahlstrom commercials are corny and have been the same for at least 3 years now.

Heck of a first period...

yes it has been :)

so paulm

are you happy now you got the setup ;)

tomorrow at noon your time is the football game (1:00 CDT.....feed up 15 minutes beforehand)

Very happy.

I've started poking around for feeds on G26, pretty nifty

I am also a recent Sioux grad that is living in Eagan, I would love to be able to get the games at home rather than going to the bar and paying for all those drinks. I am completely new to all of this, I have been reading these posts and the help is great. I am new to installing dishes and all of that. I am going to purchase Captiveworks CW-600S PREMIUM. Complete KU FTA system. - (eBay item 320182017536 end time Nov-19-07 18:58:13 PST) from ebay. What else will I need to get up and running? If I want to put a motor on in the future will this unit work with that? I would assume yes. I appreciate it, I know you have answered these questions many times.

welcome :wave from another SIoux fan in the TC ;)

yes that system will work fine. Paulm (the original thread starter) has the same system so you might want to read the thread and take notes :)

all you would need extra is cable and some screws to mount the dish (unless you are doing a pole mount). The Captiveworks will work with a motor but it is not the most "motor friendly" unit out there. Also the CW does not have blind scan, which honestly if you are going to get a motor down the line a blind scan receiver is highly recommended. Reason being is there is stuff that pops up all the time and unless you know the exact info you can't find it. Blind scan (power scan, smart scan) can find the active info on a satellite (also helps when aiming a dish). :)

What are some of the good blind search, smart search receivers? I am on a little bit of a budget as I just got done with college. I am looking to get a motor down the future so I won't get that package, might as well get a good one right away. Thanks

the traxis is pretty good for blind scanning. I've never used one but others have and they like the blind scan option

Thanks, and I'll ask if I have any more questions. I really appreciate the help. I can't wait to see those "sweet" Grand Forks commercials again, like you were talking about earlier.

Neal -

If you are loooking for a package, here is a good one.
And it's from one of our advertizers, who just happens to be a really nice guy/company, too.
In addition to better equipment, it comes with the installation supplies and cable.
So, even though it seems to cost more, in the end, it probably won't.

I just ordered the Traxis 3500 with a 36inch dish before I saw your post. Do you think I should try to cancel that order? I am going to post mount the dish so I probably won't need a big dish mounting kit. Does the Traxis work well with a motor? Another question that I'm sure has been beaten into the ground but, once you make a satellite a favorite does it automatically go to that position with the motor when I want to view a particular satellite? What satellites are the best for sports feeds...This is what I'm most ineterested in. College hockey and watching the Sioux. Thanks

nah you'll be OK :)

yes it does

correct. Once its set up all you do is select a channel and the dish moves

What satellites are the best for sports feeds...This is what I'm most interested in. College hockey and watching the Sioux. Thanks

mainly SBS6, AMC5, IA8, G11 (thats 74,79,89,91)..the Sioux are on 93W

Do you think I should try to cancel that order?
Naw, I'm with Ice. You're on your way.
Was just trying to give you other options.
Maybe the next guy who reads this thread will consider his choices.
Glad you got 36", though. Your earlier post listed 30".
I am going to post mount the dish so I probably won't need a big dish mounting kit.
Go see what the kit included. You'll still have to hit your local store for coax cable, find a compass, etc.
So no, I wouldn't order one now (extra shipping), but you will need to pick up a few goodies locally.
You'll live.
...once you make a satellite a favorite does it automatically go to that position with the motor when I want to view a particular satellite?
The channels are associated with the satellites, not favorites.
So, as stated above, when you choose the channel, the motor takes you there.
Putting a channel in a favorites-list, doesn't interfere with that association.

Welcome aboard.
When your equipment arrives, open a new thread (or ask Iceberg to break off these last few posts), and we'll talk you through your install.
And plan on taking pictues. Nothing like a couple of pix to get the guys to chatting with ya. :)

I just got my dish and receiver shipped today. I took it out of the package and I just realized that I have absolutely no idea how to do this. It seems there are plenty of screws and bolts missing. Where would be a nice (cheap) satellite installer? Thanks.

Neal, given that you're in the Twin Cities area, you will be able to find an installer; I'm sure Iceberg could point you to one. However, I doubt anyone is going to be as cheap as you'd like. You can do this! Just read up a bit and give it a shot; have patience and you'll get it.

Besides, you've got 2 weeks until the next home game. Plenty of time to figure it out!

Yeah, I figured I would just do it. The one question I do have is when I turn my receiver on, the only channels listed on there are for 97W galaxy 25 and it is channels 1 and 2. When I mount this on a post and get the dish up and running how do I scan so it pulls up whatever satellite I am looking at and not just a particular satellite that I pick from a list? Thanks
