NCAA Football 2007-08

I think the weather has something to do with the Big 10's policy. The last weekend of November we had a big snowfall. Any game in Madison or Iowa City would have been one of those joke games where the teams just slide around. The reason the college season gets dragged out is so the games can be on TV, IMO. They get to showcase the conference championship games with less competition from other games.

I say let the conferences do what they want. They know their member school schedules better than the NCAA. They should have the flexibility to do what's right for them.
Nobody forced the Big 10 to end earlier than the others in the past, so no one should force them to adapt to what others do, or vice versa.

Actually, if they all play the same mount of games and start on the same weekend, wouldn't that mean they would END thier season on the same weekend too ?

I agree with the last part of your quote.
I have no problem with the Big Ten playing games the last w/e in Nov.
Bad weather is just part of the game.

I have always said that. Natural grass and bad weather are part of the game. That's why I hate domes. If it is snowing so be it. Played my high school state championship in the snow and played and attended many college games in the ice and snow. OU and OSU in the ice bowl in Stillwater was a great game my dad and I attended with 50,000 other fans. Some of the Big 12 Presidents don't want to play the Championship game in Arrowhead anymore because it is usually cold, yet it always sells out.

It would, but the other conferences want to start Labor Day weekend, and end with the last game on Thanksgiving Weekend (particularly in the south where they like to play the big in-state rival that weekend), that results in a bye week or two. Back before they added the 12th game, it was usual to have 2 bye weeks. And some of those bye weeks are tradition, like at UGA where they take the week off before the "Cocktail Party".

Just because the Big 10 wanted to end earlier shouldn't affect them. And vice versa. I say it's a conference's call when it wants to schedule it's games. Afterall, the Big 10 has always had the power to play later, they just chose not to.

I agree with what your saying entirely, it's the endless " Ohio State didn't play the last two weeks" BS that gets to me.
All season game should end on the last weekend of November if not sooner, 1 week one way or the other I can understand, but some are still playing 3 weeks later and take a 2 week break and play thier bowl game.... thats a nice break, you don't lose your edge.
Lets see everyone that 50 days off and expect to be sharp.

Ending all season games by the end of Nov. would set u a potential playoff as well.

And Ohio St. (and the Big 10) has always had the opportunity to do that. To hear Ohio St. people complain that others have less of a gap annoys me, since it's something of their own making. The other conferences have always played late November, it's nothing new. I grew up going to Georgia-Georgia Tech games on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

For a university that almost ALWAYS has eveything going their way...damn their fans whine like sh**! They are playing the NCG when ALL looked bleak not too long ago....they BITCH about "not getting any respect"...yet they are ranked #1 or #2 in EVERY SINGLE poll....AND they are in a pseudo rebuilding year where they thought going into this year, they were really not ready to compete for the national championship.....

And yet...they STILL bitch, whine and complain for EVERYTHING!!;)

STOP THE MADNESS before you grow old fast and die!!!

;):D

Jimbo's just worried about his Bucknuts in a few weeks. Trying out excuses early.;)

MCCOYRJ, It's going to get ugly for you, being a LSU fan in a state that is maniacal about it's Buckeyes.:D Try to resist the dark side of the force.

Don't worry Paul, I have a cloaking device I use when Bucknut fanatics are around. ;)

To tell you the truth, they've been pretty tolerant of me here in Mason. They just laugh at my personalized "TigerBait" plate and LSU hitch cover. They did swipe my LSU mailbox cover once however, after the UK game this year. It was gone before I got home from the game in Lexington (they know each year it stays up until the Tigers lose their first game :)). Luckily, a neighbor who is a Michigan fan found it in the lake behind our houses, knew where it came from, and returned it to me. We cover each other's backs now. :up

I put the mailbox cover back up after LSU made the MNC, and since I had the onions to do that I guess I'm getting a little respect - it hasn't been touched, yet. That said, I expect the entire mailbox will be gone if tOSU manages to pull off a win in New Orleans. :D

Geaux Tigers!!!

Now look what you did Salsa! :( As Jessy Jackson would say - apologize.

$10 says Jimbo comes back if tOSU kicks LSU's ass. :yes

I think people are getting a little too sensitive. This is supposed to be a thread for good clean ribbing between opposing fans, isn't it? Everything I've posted has been with tongue in cheek...at least that's what I intended.

I can't speak for Jimbo, but Buckeyes fans here in Columbus don't have a lot of sense of humor when it comes to jokes against the Buckeyes. I am not that fanatical, but it can get scary around here at times.
We are talking about fans that have rioted when they WON!!! It can get even worse when they loose!
How many cities can say that?
They take thier football very seriously.

Don't fret none my friends, my good friend Jimbo will be back, but I have to admit you SEC people really think your sh** don't stink at times. Jimbo has made some good points, most particularly about the season starting and ending on the same weekends for all teams. Let's play nice here. There's still the PIT for the rough stuff. (Enter at your own risk!)

GO BLUE!!!!
