Am I missing something here?

These are the statements I read:

*) Are they allowed to legally lie to consumers?
*) $500mil whores!
*) When do we get a refund for Potter?

Yeah I was pissed when Para swapped, but dayum. Did people REALLY think after Para did it, it couldnt happen again. Are people just more pissed because its bigger?

If I remember correctly, the ONLY WB denial came out of New Zealand?

People really need to get a grip, sh*t happens. At LEAST they are supporting a few more mo's.

Well Paramont jumping did not signal the end of another format. WB was a lot bigger. :D

I guess.

Heres the problem I see, people hear what they want to hear and believe what they want to believe.

In my business, you cant entirely trust anyone so I apply that towards these studios. Its like believing everything you hear in a presidential address(not an opening for comments on past, present or future politics).

Business is business.

Was just about to say the same thing, ako. If you realize the format you picked is seeing the beginning of the end, I'd be pissed too. Plus all the Sony haters that would rather watch upconverts than blu-ray (which I don't understand) can't be happy.

I think I'd easily be a $500 mil whore. The Paramount deal just opened the door for all the pay-off's to happen Who knows, maybe HD DVD group's next move it to kidnap Mickey Mouse and blackmail Disney into jumping ship. Corporations are gonna pull the backroom deals till the day we all die.

I think its more talk. When paramount dumped BD, I was a staunch BD supporter and waiting on transformers. About a week after bing pissed I got over it, then bought the $98 A2 AND transformers. :D

I never followed up the Lionsgate rumor so I never gathered if it was substantiated. With any studio going exclusive, you know either
1. Money was exchanged
2. Future royalty payments were promised if format won.

No way any of these companies would just limit their market cause they think one format is better than the other. I don't care what Fox and others claim about security etc.

Here's the other thing to the bashers who bought HDDVD items during the holiday.

WB openly stated they would watch the 4th qtr heavily then make a decision. Do not be mad at WB because you backed the wrong horse.

I hope these guys dont go to Casinos.

Some of these posts right now in the AVS Insider thread are priceless. GET OVER IT.

They said that, but they denied all throughout Dec. that they were making a switch. Obviously they knew since that Lionsgate CEO bragged to BusinessWeek about it.

BusinessWeek has a long history of hating HD-DVD. They predicted its death six months after Paramount went neutral. (This is before Warner went neutral.) I took that with a grain of salt.

Warner is full of it claiming that the format war was affecting DVD sales. At least now they are saying it is the weak economy. Honestly, it might be other things like err..video game sales and the Internet affecting DVD sales.
