So.... American Idol 7 has started again. And as always, it begins with some scary scary people.

Borat, and some dude who tries to sing "Let My People Go," only to have Paula and Randy bursting out in laughter. My son said it sounded like our cat throwing up and trying to poop at the same time. :D

Let the discussion begin.

(Hell, we don't have much else to discuss).

I wish we could just jump to the final contestants chosen so we can see them compete. I really dread the auditions as they last to long. THe people that they put through to see the judges are ridiculous. They could cut down on this and just show some of the better contestants, but I am sure others like this sort of spectacle.

If they went straight to it they would have no show, have to build up the drama.

The auditions are the best part. Most people I know only watch the auditions.

Unfortunately they do LOTS of editing and piecing stuff together during the auditions.

They seriously don't let everyone who wants have a chance against the three judges?? Do they have some weeding process to decide who gets to go before them?

The stalker was scary;

yet the 16-yr-old-football-player-girl's breakdown showed that even Simon isn't always a total ass.

Nope... only the weirdo's get to go in front of the judges.

The guy with the black cape was out there eh?

Yeah, and the dude had his chest hair removed so he could get a second chance at making an ass of himself in front of what 20 million people? Pretty wild. :)

Idol's rating was down 11% from last year, but still crushed everything else....

Zap2it reports:
On the one hand, Tuesday's "American Idol" premiere was off a fair amount from last year's debut. On the other, it still destroyed everything in its path.

Surprising absolutely no one, FOX and "Idol" dominated the night with a 17.8 rating/26 share in households and 33.2 million viewers (down about 11 percent from last year's 37.4 million).

They made at least one MAJOR mistake in the editing. The thin girl in the orange dress was missing one of her hoop earrings when she first went before the judges. When they cut to the judges and then back to her, the earring was back. Then they went to the judges and back to her and the earring was missing again! Really strange.

Seems a little surprising, given the strike...

That's the one thing this show (at least the auditions phase) proves: some people will do anything to get on TV for 5 seconds.
