Detroit Tigers

Jones does make things exciting, doesn't he?

Yes he does,
He once gave an interview where he was asked about being so inconsistant compared to others.
He said that he doesn't care as long as his team wins ....

I bet his starting pitchers would like him to get them out 1,2, 3 more often so he's not bumping up thier ERA because he's letting runs in that were already on base.

So you would rather he retire ?

He may not have a choice. Time will tell if he is the first one in the history of the game to come back from this type of injury and surgery.

All I am saying is the Tigers need to treat this next season as if Zoom is not coming back. That is smart business.

I love Ernie Harwell's nickname for Todd Jones... "Rollercoaster". "He give you thrills", says Ernie.

I remember Jones doing an interview in the 2006 season when the journalist asked him if he feels comfortable with a base runner or two on the bases before he closes the game out. He replied, "I may not be pretty about it, so go grab a sandwich because either way I'll get the job done".

Tigers get Jacque Jones from The Cubbies for Omar Infante. This is an upgrade in my opinion.

I liked Omar alright, avg. stick pretty good glove.
Jacque Jones, I remember when he was with the Twins, he's 32 as was Omar.
Jones had a good year batting over .300 and is a decient fielder, Omar is 32 as well, but the Tigers have a backup infielder already, so he was expendable.

Todd Jones signed again today, so thats good seeing they were down to NO ONE as a closer.

Q. Will they go after another reliever , 3b ??

Both positions still in play. As for Infante, I think that Tiger's management had the opinion that he was a decent stick, but his fielding was found lacking. Remember that he had two shots to claim the SS position, (early in his career and last fall, when Santiago rose above him. Good trade for both teams again.

They need to that's for sure. The free agent pool is very thin this year at every position. With the exception of A-Rod, I would not bother with any other 3b man... Inge has one of the better gloves in the league at that position, but he has the worst stick in the league for that position. There does not seem to be anyone with a happy medium in the free agent pool... they could do a trade, but who do you give up?

I say stick with Inge. He has shown he has a good bat. 2004, 2005, and 2006 were good years. 2006 he batted .253 which is not where you would want a 3b to be, but he did smack 27 homers, and had an incredible post season where he had multiple clutch hits.

As for a reliever... again... who do you give up in trade?

I definatley agree with you, he had several chances ...

Nate Robertson signed a 3 year extension for 21M and Thames signed today for another season for 1.2M. Cabrero and Seay remain as the last two players up for arbitration. Still no trade for Inge. personally I hope he stays put. Great super-sub.

Well, ya know Cabrera 's going to get his money regardless.
As for Inge, a buddy told me yesterday that the heard Inge was thinking about staying now.
He could get playing time all over the field.

DTE dropped our power grid last night, and I'm sitting here freezing, waiting for the heat to catch up, and it's making me think of the sunny says of summer. It's 20 degrees outside, and the wind chill is hovering around zero. So my question is, WHEN DOES SPRING TRAINING START? I'm really excited about this season, and some warm weather.

I'd rather be inside waiting for the furnace to catch up that being outside in it all day , like I was today..... at least I don't have to work tomorrow when it's suppose to be reeeeeal cold.
