Charlie Chat Recap -- March 10th

So who else has experiance with 110/119/129 and 61.5 added to it? How does the system behave?

I have the dish 1000.2 sat dish and it defaults for the most part to the 129 sat. I had to put tin foil over the 129 lnb to get it to see only 61.5 sat and no 129. after running a check switch. IT works fine for the most part, but since the last software update for the 622/722 dvrs, the lost locks have skyrocketed on the diagnostics menu.

IT is not so much a package as a new place to get existing channels in hd /sd in mpeg 4 at a new slot ; 61.5. There maybe some kind of new smart card needed and maybe a new lnb or switch but we don't know yet as no details have been nailed down , just speculation. So wait till they tell us before you panic. I am hoping by early June we will all know what to do and where to point our dishes etc. By the way , Yes the 625 is an mpeg 2 receiver.

Not panicing at all, just asking questions...I'm just interested in the whole thing, that's all. Thanks for the info by the way! :)

so who gets the new HD channels at no increase in cost

If I understand what "Charlie Tuna" had to say about the additional HD channels, if one has the ultimate hd package which is 20 dollars, that when they come on line we should be able to receive these channels at no extra cost. Is that correct? I have T250 with ultimate hd package so I should be OK when they update the HD packages.....I think:rolleyes:

I have those 4 satellites but they all feed a DPP44 switch. I think you're looking for someone with a 1000.2 and a wing dish for 61.5, no? Anyways, the receiver chooses 61.5 and 129 randomly. There is no rhyme or reason as to which satellite the receiver chooses.

Mike
You can take a dish 500, set the skew to 90 and aim for 61.5 using a dish pro twin and run one coax into a dp 34 , problem solved, my 61.5 is a dish pro twin on a 500 skew set to 90. The one coax from the lnb goes into my #3 port on my dp 34, port 1 and 2 come from a dish 500 aimed at 110 and 119.

I already have the dish 500 with a single arm lnb that is a dishpro single aimed at 61.5 sat and hooked into my dish 1000.2 sat dish. My question is if we don't need the 110 or 119 sats any longer and only look at the 61.5 sat dish , what kind of switch will allow you to do this and still split the coax into two for dual tuners dvrs. THis is going to be a problem unless they come up with another solution for it before summer.

I have no doubts that Dish already has the solution. They just won't release the details until they want to.

2008 better look more like 2006 then 2007 for Charlie... I can't wait for the "Eastern Arc" stuff....

I missed it. Was there any talk of Cleveland locals specifically? Thanks.

This is by far the most interesting C Chat I have read for sometime, yes even when I had E* I only read C Chats. I wish I could have watched it this time though:)

Looked to me SciFi and USA will have a good chance to go live soon and included in the $29.99 pack. But for the same reason I mentioned before, don't expect any new ones to be added soon because if they do they will lose too many AT subs to this HD pack, a huge loss of revenue.

My guess would be they will add many HD-only new HD channels in 2008, but wait till after 2008 to add many SD/HD simulcast new HD channels, why Charlie said probably not all of those 25 new HD's.

Their priority will be to add Scifi and USA and maybe a few more to stop the bleeding, and go full speed on HD LIL in 2008.

I left E* not for lack of HD but for the 4-tuner limit. I thought they already relaxed this stupid rule by allowing one 722 and two 612's?

Scott. When is the next retailer chat??

It seems the last time Dish announced a slew of hd channels was during a retailer chat that was held last June or July.
You did let us know about the channels a day or two before that chat.:)

That is because SATGUYS is the place to go to for late breaking information on Satellite tv. Besides you can 't criticize DISH for anything on the other site with James Long patrolling.;)

They have skyrocketed for me too since L449, and the 1000.2.
