The weekly, "Will there be more HD launched this week?" thread.

You guys crack me up. If you had been around before the 1980's you'd have had 3 network channels and - if you were very lucky - 1 or 2 independents. Now you whine and cry when channels aren't added fast enough for you. Try going outside for a little while - there are trees, grass, animals and all sorts of other cool stuff out there.

Jeez, I thought all of the people who remembered those days were in assisted living homes by now. Hold on, wait..........huh? Oh, gotta go. The orderly says its time for basket weaving. And I was hoping for a game of checkers! Drat!

I suspect that the folks wanting SciFi-HD will have to wait. (based on what I'm hearing).

As I said, 5/1/2008.....

What is Magic about 5/1? They have access to the SA transponders now. They have access to as much bandwidth as they are going to have until the next satellite launches and is operational (mid-summer, maybe?).

What is going to change between now and May 1? The only commitment from Dish is June 9. Charlie said there would be at least some new HD before then. How much and how much before then, no one knows.

I am just tired of it. They clearly have made the decision that local HD is more important than National HD (BIG miscalculation, IMHO).

It never ends, either. We all wait every week for HD channels, and later this summer we will all be waiting to see if Dish decides to carry the Olympic stations in HD (they won't have the bandwidth unless they cut something else for two weeks).

As it happens, I will probably wait until about May 1 and then switch to D*. The reason I am waiting is for the trees to leaf out fully. Otherwise, D-Day would have been today. I know D* will have the the Olympics as well as virtually every channel there is (Except Voom, which I will miss). I will miss my 622, but maybe I will get the HDPC in return. Or not.

Seems like more and more peopke on this site are thinking the same thing. If this site is a forward indicator of how Dish's HD customers feel, then Dish is going to be in for a rough year or two.

I think Charlie is going to double the amount of National HD he launched last week. Next week it will be triple!!

Obviously Dish Network considers its HD subs as unimportant. And we probably are in the big picture. If only DirecTV receivers weren't junk, I'd be long gone.

It is how I feel. I have been a loyal E* customer for close to 10 years but I feel no love back. I will be able to go without the VOOM channels, I can get by with a different DVR. I would like some new HD in my lifetime though.

I received 1 maybe 2 on a good day. I came to dread a summer full of Golf and Tennis on NBC. :(

I'd like to see SpeedHD other than that it doesn't matter.

What's the Battleship Galactica everyone keeps talking about?

I keep hearing about May and Eastern Arc, but what can happen between now and then since the AMC-14 faliure? They can't add any new bandwith, between now and May so why is May the magic date for new HD. So Scott what will happen to allow all this the HD in May?

Actually, the two transponders that SkyAngel was using are now available, and that should make room for several channels.

I knew about the 2 Sky Angel TP's but that happen on 4/1/08, not in May, but for some reason all Scott keeps saying is May is the magic time, I am just confussed, as to why May is so magical. I am willing to stay with Dish to see what is going to happen, but I just don'tunderstand or can't figure out what is going to happen between now and then to allow all those wonderful things in May. If they aren't adding a new satellite, or more bandwith then they have now then why are they waiting until May?
