Peachtree TV on Dish Network?

Take Columbia SC for instance.
We are in the Atlanta Braves Home Market.
Time Warner Cable does not have Peachtree TV in its package, and never will.
They do however, have an agreement with Peachtree TV to show all 45 Braves Games that Peachtree has the rights to.
Directtv also has an agreement to show those 45 games only to customers in this area.
That is all either one of those carriers show in this area from that channel.

Since I am on dish, I can't watch those 45 games.
I, like many others don't care about the rest of the programming on Peachtree tv, I just want to watch the braves games.
Dish doesn't have Extra innings, but if they did, I wouldn't be able to subscribe to it and watch the braves. If Direct TV didn't have an agreement to show those 45 games, you wouldn't be able to watch them here on Extra innings through them either.

Although I'm sure what you are saying is true. It is available and I'm watching it now on channel 8307 (downmapped to 17) in the Atlanta area.

he emailed again and said "oh yea WPCH. We have that if you are in the Atlanta DMA, Don't know anything about carrying the games or WPCH to anybody else."

WPCH is not now, nor will it ever be available nationally. WPCH is not a super station. WTBS wasn't really a super station for the last decade or so. It just carried the TBS cable programming 23 hours a day.

The TBS (cable) and WTBS split up into two independent and separate entities when WTBS became WPCH. WPCH (Peachtree) is strictly local. TBS is national. This was done on purpose by Turner Networks/Viacom/whoever.

channel 294 on Bell Expressvu, if you "move" to canada, buy new equipment, repoint your dish. not exactly easy but it's another option

If you are in Braves terriory for MLB, you will be able to watch them on RSN channel called SportSouth (old Turner South). Comcast cable will provide the games on their CSS channel because they do not carry Sport Souh in some markets, but they carry FSN South. WPCH (old WTBS-17) will never be available to cable or satellite outside the Atlanta DMA. It is just an independent television station.

We are going to have same argument if the Cubs are sold this year from Tribune. More games are going to ComcastSportsNet-Chicago and WCIU-DT in Chicago.

Tony, they change the letters to end confusion with TBS and WTBS

Huh? Where was this announced?

Braves on Peachtree TV

First of all, I love this forum....always been a reader, just decided to post on this topic.

Why is Dish Network the only carrier to not offer the Peachtree HD channel???? I live in the ATL area and was watching the game last Friday at my sisters house, who has Direct TV, and it looks so nice in HD.....much better than the SD broadcast that I can get. The broadcast even had a little advertisement in the game about Peachtree in HD on Direct TV, Comcast, and Charter. Charter??? Come on....I used to have them and they were always the absolute last one to get channels to customers, which is why I left them. But, yet they have Peachtree HD and Dish does not. :-(

They should go ahead and turn it on cause my dish at 61.5 might start rusting if they don't do it in the very near future. I get the Atlanta locals off 129 pretty decent they just need to flip the switch for WPCH on 61.5 and i'll be set - I'm friggin tired of constantly moving and reaiming dishes can't they just make some way of connecting two 1000.2 dishes together - then i would just replace my 61.5 dish with another 1000.2 and keep my other 1000.2 pointed at 110,119,129 so if they decide to change their minds again in next month or two i'll already be set

Peachtree HD channel is sitting at 61.5° waiting for when Atlanta local channels are moved there and made MPEG 4 only. This will happen eventually. Take a look at Dish Network Channel Chart (Unofficial). It will be added "soon".

Sorry, I'm a newbie.....what does this mean? I've seen previous posts about 61.5 but not sure what that means? I have the Dish 500, and the only sats I see are 110, 119, 129. Does this mean if they go live with Peachtree TV HD on 61.5, then I won't be able to see it???

The Atlanta HD local channels will eventually be moving to 61.5°. Don't worry too much about it. You will get fair written warning from Dish and an offer for a new/second dish. There is no single dish that can get 61.5° and 119/110 at the same time.

BTW a Dish 500 can only see 110°/119°. You have a Dish 1000 (larger dish) that can see 110°/119°/129°.

All the HD channels at 129° are already at 61.5° except Atlanta locals. But they are "waiting in the wings" right now.

Thanks for the info! While I'm not crazy about getting another dish on top of my house, I'll do it do watch the Braves in HD on WPCH! But, do you think this will happen during this baseball season????

There is no telling at this point. My guess is Dish is moving full speed ahead. But I gave up trying to prognosticate with Dish. They change their plans on an hourly basis! :)

I wrote Choptalk they had a good article in this months issue about Peachtree. Here is what they had to say.

We can only give you our best guess, based on what you’re telling us. If you are receiving the games on FSN South and SportSouth, then you obviously are in the Braves franchise territory. That means you could also receive the Peachtree TV games. However, if and when you receive them is up to your cable or satellite provider.

It’s up to Peachtree TV and the providers in each community to come to an agreement to show the games in that area. As you can see by the list we ran in the May ChopTalk, many providers in the Braves region have worked this out. For some reason, it appears North Carolina is lagging behind. We have no idea why this is.

We suggest you contact your local provider – whoever you get FSN South and SportSouth from – and ask them if/when you will get the Peachtree TV games. At least you’ll be letting them know that there are people who want them to provide Peachtree TV games. The more customers they hear from, the more likely they will be to add this coverage. Don’t settle for whoever answers the phone when you call. Demand to speak to a supervisor and/or the VP of customer relations. Go as high as you can and try to get an answer. Don’t let them put you off. Perhaps they already are in negotiations with Peachtree TV. Try to find out what’s going on.

You might even contact the sports editor at your local newspaper... Ask if he’s getting complaints... Tell him how important it is to you... Ask him to try to get the answer from your local provider. He ought to be able to get a news story or column out of it.

We hope you get the games soon. You’re not alone. There are other Braves fans out there who are having the same problem. We feel your pain and hope that you’ll get all the games soon.

I’m still hearing Dish Network is in “negotiations” to carry the Peachtree games.

The Peachtree schedule increases soon. In June, they have 13 of 27 games, almost half.

I see on ALT 447 and ALT 449 for Friday Night that The Braves and Reds game is on the channel guide. However, when I press select, it still looks as if it going to be blacked out, and I am in the Braves local market. Anyone else know anything about this?

I believe those are alternates from Fox Ohio/Cincinnatti where they show the Reds games in part of the Braves territory.
