GTA IV: Its almost time!!!

This thread got quiet all of a sudden. Everybody must be busy playing the game. I'm not able to take off work so I'm picking up my copy this evening. Hope everyone is enjoying it.

Yeah, Personally I am broke until tomorrow, So No GTA IV for me until then.

I honestly can't believe how many "10s" this game has received. I am so tempted go buy this game but I have so many others that require my attention. I may as well wait anyways. At least then I can get some discounts by buying it used.

PS3 it is!! :hungry: Thanks:D:up

Some other nuances found I guess... like the PS3 version only running at 640p.

MAXCONSOLE - MaxConsole - PS3 GTA IV runs at 640p *UPDATE*

Goes back to Halo 3/COD4... it looks damn good but who cares. For those PS3 people who were hammering MS about the resolution in some games it's a little tougher pill to swallow.
It's fun, will be more fun when I am more comfortable with it... I don't like this timed mission stuff, I want to keep everyone happy and not get any thumbs down.

Briefly played some multiplayer... will be happy when some of those kiddies get bored and go back to COD4.

Yup, Resolutions do not matter any more. On either side. FPS can but often doesn't.

You know us Xbots and Sonyphiles need to go beat up on the Nintendorks. They are the ones who are laughing all the way to the bank :p

boy am I pissed I was so excited after getting off work going to 2stores finally got the game get home it installs in the ps3 not to bad of a wait. watch all the cinema scenes the the cousin goes i think you should drive. now its frozen on that screen cant do anything even the ps button is not working

damn looks like its a known issue

Technical issues
Just hours after the game's release, Kotaku reported that several PS3 and Xbox 360 owners had complained of the game freezing during the initial cut-scene, rendering it unplayable[109]. While Rockstar has not yet commented officially, they are apparently aware of the problem but have yet to determine its cause.[110]

Kotaku later revelaed that the PS3 version was not actually running at 720p, instead it was running at 630p! [

Yea i saw that yesterday. As you said i have both Halo3/COD4 and they look great! So i went ahead with the PS3 version for now. Wont get to play until i do some stuff around the house and shower! See ya guy's later TONIGHT!:hungry:

have been playing for about 1/2 hour when my controller went out!!! fist time i ever played a GTA.
not much happening in first few missions, driving around mostly. had a date, no action damn, but went bowling, games within games, neat idea. looking forward to checking out the rest when controller is charged up.

went out and got another copy from bestbuy this one works. anyone else notice that when your driving it sometimes studders. have to go return the other one to circuit city.

I've been playing it for a while today.
The graphics are great, just need to mess with the video settings to make it look really good.
When I play the game on cinema mode it looks awesome, but when I play it on regular mode looks like s***t.

I got to play for about 30 minutes last night. I got through the first 3 missions. So far it seems like a souped-up version of the same old GTA. Of course, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Based on all the reviews though, I'm hoping that it gets really good after the intro missions. I'm pretty impressed with the graphics. Like others have said, I tinkered with the display settings to get it looking what I thought was the best. I got the 360 version and had no problems with the initial cut-scene. I even watched it twice as both I and my wife started new games.

Edit: Also, there was a card for a free month of LIVE in the game box which was a nice surprise.
