i recently emailed D* suggesting they come up with a HD only package. If they had this i would've jumped ship already becuase E* has that right now and you really save$$$$. They mentioned that they've received emails on this and that the requests would be sent to the programming dept. You guys give this any chance at all? If they actually do this it will be a knife in the heart of E*. Wondering how many people on D* would actually be interested in this.

I think D* should offer it just because E* does but for me personally I wouldn't get it. There are a lot of SD only channels that are watched by the wife, the kids and myself that we wouldn't want to give up.

I wouldn't take it either.

There are times where the HD feed isn't working but the SD feed is just fine
According the the Dish folks on this site, you would still get the SD channels with the HD only pack. You just don't get the SD only channels (channels without HD simulcasts).

correct. you would still get the sd feeds of those channels without having to pay for the rest of the sd channels that you don't ever watch. personally if you give me the channels i only watch in hd that would be all i need.

This is why I would love for Direct to have this option. I pretty much only watch HD channels. The few SD channels I watch also have an HD simulcast. I only watch these SD channels when their HD simulcast is showing stretch-o-vision.

its out for me they dont give you your local rsn's on the dish package

I wouldn't take it either. HD only pack on D* would make no sence!. You know its not going to be $30 so why bother? E* most Likly is not going to stay $30 for long either,I'll bet money on that!

The HD only pack would be nice but for how long? Eventually most of the channels that Directv pays for will have a HD version of the channels so the pricing will just quickly catch up to where their current package pricing is. (Same goes to Dish)

HEMI AND JAG you're both right. but in the mean time you would save maybe $30 a month?

I thought DTV had already announced that they would offer a HD only package starting sometime in 2009.

I think it has been rumored that Direct would offer this next year. I have not seen anything offical from Direct on this.

I would jump on this pack like white on rice by the way.:)

After seeing that Dish does not include you local RSN(s) in this package, if Direct does the same, I would no longer want to sign up for this package. There is no way I can go without missing over half of my Dodger games.

Also, would people still be able to add sports packages, like EI Superfan, if they have the HD only package?

+1

Can any Dish folk answer my two questions?

1. If you local RSN has an HD simulcast, will it be included in the HD only pack, or are all local RSN's excluded?

2. Are you still able to get the other sports packages with the HD only pack?

1-NO
2-YES

dodgerking on th 1st question this is where D* could do this better than E*

The only SD channel I ever watch is Comedy Central. If it wasn't for that I'd be all over an HD only package.
