Ok, I got it cabled but am not getting how to set up the menus for the Ku diseqc 1 & C diseqc 2, this is my first attempt at switching.

OK here we go :)

-menu
-dish settings
-scroll down to diseqc sw and hit ok
-set diseqc 1.0 to 1 (if you have KU for port 1 and C-Band for port 2)
leave the other 2 set to off
exit back out and the save

you will have to do that for each KU satellite

Done deal! Still a couple that don't work right but I'm about 90% there, thanks for the help. :) I'll try to clean it up with some shorter cables and hook up the Neusat tomorrow sometime. :up

make sure you power the Visionsat off when adding/removing anything...dont wanna fry the receiver ir switch

I'll probably forget to do that sooner or later, but I've been powering off the switches on the receivers....and killing my power strip also.

Congrats on getting your KU setup working. I would love to have an antenna tower like you have. Could mount several dishes and OTA antennas on that. :)

Thank you PN'M, it was quite an accomplishment for me. I could have never pulled it off without the help I've gotten from this forum.

I salvaged that tower locally about 12 years ago when a tornado took it down. It was 150' tall and I have about 55' up at my house, a lot of it was scrap. I built a big hinge for the base and I plan on bringing it down this fall and putting up a new OTA antenna in anticipation of the OTA digital changeover coming for next year.

Update: While I did have some success with the diseqc switch, it wasn't very reliable, probably because it wasn't being used properly. I'm back to switching coax inputs manually to go from C to Ku digital, everything works well that way, hitting my Ku sats from end to end of my LOS, that DG380 motor is sweet.

Iceberg recommended trying an Ecoda for my application, so when it arrives I hope to be able to report I've got the BUD and the 3ABN dish system fully blended and operational via remote. :)

another option is to use the Visionsat right now for KU and the Neusat for C-Band

oh god you're hooked :D

fingers crossed ;)

have fun :)
at least it will allow you to use both boxes with really no issues. Just manually program in the stuff on the neusat for now and when the switches come then you can get everything back up like it should be

done deal, works great. I see what you mean about the blind scan on the Neusat, it wouldn't even pick up the G4 nets, but they came right in on a manual scan. thanks!

Had another thought (uh oh)

put the diseqc switch between the Visionsat and the Neusat. Then the Neusat would get both C & KU

visionsat loop out-----port 1 of diseqc-----neusat
line from C-Band-------port 2 of diseqc

that's another option if you have something KU to watch in HD

Keep that thinker going, you're doing great!!!:D

So, going that route I think I would go into the Visionsat menus and set up all my C-band sats: diseqc 1.0..."port 2 = On/yes" ?

Would I also need to setup the Ku sats in the Visionsat also (except they would be "port 1 = On/yes"), or would the Ku signal just pass through the VS loop out to the Neusat since the Neusat is slaved?

Visionsat you wouldn't touch settings since that is coming straight from the motor

Neusat would be KU port 1 and C-Band port 2 (as examples..depends on what port you hook what band up to)

I get it now, the menus/settings control the signal coming INTO the box, not going out, I had it backwards.

Thanks!

...Said daughter said to said wife....I'm sure glad we live out in the sticks so no one can see dad sitting out in the yard watching TV".

Congrats!

I think a whole month went by before I had the courage to try to find another SAT.
My wife and I were stunned that we actually got something to work.

We were screaming at each other..."Don't touch it...don't touch it!"

Thanks, Fizbi! I'll never forget when the quality meter actually started registering something that first time, I don't think that feeling will ever get old no matter how many times I get to experience it again! :)
