Anyone watching the NASCAR race at DAytona on TNT ?
They have advertised the "Wide Open Coverage" meaning almost commercial free, at least thats what they said.
YES, I am happy to be able to see the entire race, but the commercials in the lower part of the screen is getting annoying.

I think they have doubled the commercials and you lose the audio during the commercial of course and they raided the volume for the ad's.

I'm not thrilled with the TNT coverage as far as this goes.
Were also losing the bottom 1/4 of the screen fro the misc. BS they are putting in there.
Do away with the BS and give us the ticker for positioning.

Whats your opinion ?

Agree, seems there are way more commercials plus the on air staff keeps plugging products. Forget this way of doing coverage, I'll take the old way any day. Glad I have Hot Pass, I've just gone over to a drive channel and hell with the TNT coverage.

I like the TNT coverage of several years back when you could see the race while the commercial was on, but they were not on every 2 minutes.

at least you can still see the race

TSN (The Sports Network in Canada) has the rights and the bottom 1/4 shows "NASCAR" the whole time and when a "commercial" comes on, they actually go to commercials (so no race)

also, when they talk about a product TSN is jumping to a commercial :(

We've got the same thing on the bottom and the pop up commercial.

There have been a few actual commercials and a TON of pop up commercials.

You DO have a c-band dish, right?;)

The pop up commercials are more distracting than just having a commercial. ABC does something similar with the IRL and it doesn't seem as irritating. I can't put my finger on what it is. I don't think they do it as frequently and they show the whole picture of the race, though smaller, instead of covering part of the screen you want to see with the commercial. Maybe more of a split screen would be better than what they did last night.

Dont you get regular tnt via dish or Directv?? Or are you fta only?? Your still in the u.s. minnesota right???

I have been watching Nascar ever since the days when you could see a few laps on Wide World of Sports every once in a while.

I will now ignore watching Nascar until it's not on TNT.

I would not go that far, I don't think this is the norm for TNT, I think it was just for this race.

Although I could be wrong, but have not heard anything about it being on this way the rest of the year.

btw, I read on a different site (while this one was down) that D* had the drivers channels on for free with weekend, Iwish I had known that.
Normall that kind of stuff gets posted, but I did not see anything about it this time.

It would have made the race much better.

TNT needs to do two things if this is the way they are going to do it.
1. not RAISE the volume and 2. makes the box in a corner, possibly slightly smaller.
At least they didn't put it in the top side of the picture.
