Seeing this is A ST thread ....
Anyone know if they will put the Pre season games on D* this year anywhere ?

Obviously I can get the local team, but if I wanted the local team, I wouldn't need the ST :D

Hey Jimbo,

I cancelled my Sunday Ticket this year. Unless they come out with some deal like they had last year, I won't be signing up.

As a Steelers fan I just figured that since the Steelers have the toughest schedule in the NFL, and with all the premier NFL teams they are playing, we should be able to see 7 - 10 games on National TV. That is, assuming you don't live in a AFC market. If I remember your in a NFC market like I am. So our local CBS should be showing a good amount of Steeler games this year. Plus there is 2 monday night games and 1 Thursday night game in the regular season this year. CBS could easily make the Sunday match ups against the Eagles, Patriots, Colts, and 2 games against the Bungles the national game on Sunday. Plus I live in the Detroit Lions market, so the October 26 4:15 game against the Giants should be on national TV and the Lions play at 1:00!

That would be 9 games right there if CBS makes all the ones I listed for their network National games!

Just a FYI for everyone what happened to be. I have autorenew but last year I didn't purchase SF because I didn't have an HD TV. This year I wanted the sf but didn't want to pay for it. I called a CSR and told them that I knew that they were offering a promotion for new subscribers for free SF and asked if I qualified. I was told no it was only for people that are signing up for the first time. I protested (Nicely) and stated that I shouldn't be punished for being a loyal yearly renewal. After about 10 minutes of being on hold I was offered 10 dollars off for 12 month. I accepted. Checked my bill the next day and the credit wasn't there. Called and was told that since I already had a credit for a previous issue that I couldn't have a second credit so they refunded the whole SF which is what I wanted in the first place.

I also have a question for folks that had SF in the past. I am a Lions fan believe it or not and I think this year I may get blacked out for a few games. I know that ST also blacks out games that fall in these rules however I didn't know if I would be able to see the highlights in shorts (I am referring to the 30 minute recaps at night) later on.

Highlights are always there.

I am sorry you have to be a Lions fan. I grew up in a family of Lions fans... (I live in Michigan). I was a kid in the Barry era, so I naturally was a fan. After Barry left and the demise of the franchise I evolved into a team I have always liked by my own choice and not the brainwashing of family... the Steelers.

After the Joke that the Fords have made of owning an NFL team, I have no idea how any one can remain a Lions fan. Even all of my family who tried brainwashing me as a child don't follow them as close as they used to.

I have boycotted Ford completely. I won't even go to a concert or event at Ford field. Although I am considering purchasing a Ford Pickup though... they have a lot more towing capability than the Chevy's.

Thanks tkorell and dcowboy !

I'm a Steeler fan too and the 3rd preseason game on Aug 23rd vs Min will be live on CBS. The second game is a day late on NFLN and the 4th several days late.

I called in to get the SuperFan credit after reading about successful attempts here. This is my 3rd year with SuperFan...year 1 was free, year 2 was $99 (I tried to get it for free then too), year 3 is now free too.

I told them I had received a mailer about free superfan before July 31. She said they didn't show that on my account and it must not have been addressed to me. I said I am the only person at that address with DirecTV, so it must be addressed to me, but my girlfriend threw it away. She wasn't budging. She said to call back when I get the mailer. I said, I just told you it was thrown away...will I get another one? She said No.

OK then...is THAT what you call customer service? "Let me transfer you to retention". Great.

Retention comes on and I explain that I got a mailer and I can go ahead and cancel and renew if I need to. She said to hold. She came back and said she was unaware of the mailer promo, but she would go ahead and credit me $99 today, but the $16/month would still be billed for superfan.

Sounds like a deal to me. The credit appeared within 5 mins.

GO BENGALS.

Any new customers (as in new to D*) have luck getting free superfan? I was just online ordering the ESPN Gameplan and realized the superfan portion of ST was listed as something not purchased (or said I could purchase it anyway). Having 2 separate HD-DVRs I want the HD, obviously. Anything I can say to the CSRs to get them to give me the SF for free?

Thanks guys, i did exactly what you guys said and I got superfan for free. Well i'm not a new D* subscriber but I have only been a subscriber for 5 months and I called and told them I ordered superfan and I was supposed to get superfan for free if I ordered sunday ticket according to the email but it was not showing up. Customer service rep was very nice and did the work and got me it for free.

I practically got mine free. they knocked off $ 20 from sunday ticket and gave me a $60 credit for superfan which was a savings of $80. so i paid $19 for superfan. i'm also waiting for the going green credit to kick in which is another $20. plus they spread the payments for me over 6 months instead of 5 months to make it easier on the wallet.

Its nice to see that after a few months, many seem to be getting the superfan package at no cost as we get closer to the NFL season!! Hopefully for those who are still working on it keep trying!!!

Called today to cancel st and sf and they gave me a $99 credit on my bill. this is getting old same call every year, just make hd standard and charge for the other features sf offers.

I was just on the D* website to pay my bill and noticed that they have the same deal going as they did last year for Sunday Ticket. If you sign up for ST, you get the premier package for free for 4 months. This is a deal for new customers, but last year I called in and got the deal. I told the CSR, I never had ST before, and would really like to see if I would actually enjoy it, and this deal seemed like the way to do it. She did it up for me. So I basically went from paying $70 a month for my current service to paying $99 a month for all the movie channels and ST.

I will try next month to see if it works again!

Update on Superfan, I called up and said I was under the impression I was getting the NFL ST in HD when I signed up. The CSR tried to tell me it was $100 and that I could break it out a few ways, and I reiterated that I was under the impression I was getting the games in HD when I signed up. She put me on hold and came back about a minute later and said I now have Superfan for free.

you did good grasshopper!

Wow what a difference a month makes (and being closer to the season I guess) we went from: The days and talk of Superfan credit may be gone due to DTV being tighter on programing credits to a huge rush of us getting Superfan free.

Got to give DTV some credit if they are bending a bit on the credits, In the long run I guess it just reafirms (for me at least) that a little bit of programing credit can really keep us happy!!

+1;)

I called and explained my wife had lost the postcard, something about free Superfan and asked if I needed it to take advantage of the offer. She said my word was good enough, added it, the call was about 60 seconds long including hold music. She said it's an offer open to all who are auto-renewing this year.

Oddly enough, my mom got one of these cards, and does not have Sunday Ticket... hasn't had it on that account in about 5 years.

how are they handling the SF billing - I called and was told it would be free - but I don't see it on my account and a credit - have they started billing SF yet? I have ST on there but no SF - anyone else have SF on their bill yet?
