Cleveland Browns (for HD MM)

Yes the Browns are playing bad right now. No I'm not making excuses. However if I did not explain the reasons why we didn't win last night, this thread would be pointless. Let me give you my take on why we lost last night.....

1) Awful call by Romeo at the end of the game for the second week in a row. With 3 minutes left to go in the 4th quarter and being down by 7 points, Romeo elected to kick a field goal?! By doing this, the Browns were still down by 4 points, meaning we still needed a TD to win! 3 points was meaningless at that point. This is 2 strikes for Romeo in my book. 1 more and I'm calling for his firing!

Agreed, plus poor clock management at the end of the first half.

2) The conditions yesterday were downright awful! I was at the game, so I can attest to this. During last nights game, Ike reared it's head into NE Ohio. We actually reached Category 1 type conditions with wind guests up to 70mph and swirling rain! Playing in this weather caused for some sloppy play.

Both teams played in the same weather, the Steelers learned to adapt.

3) Penalties. 1 huge penalty that comes to mind occurred in the 2nd quarter on 3rd and long. The Browns were called for a penalty on the same play that Roethlisberger was sacked. The penalty was unrelated to the sack and had we not been flagged for that, the Steelers would've had to punt. Instead, they were awarded the first down and went on to score the games only TD and the eventual winning points.

Yeah the Steelers got called for roughing the passer, which was in no way roughing the passer. But fat baby hit Ben late and nothing was called.

4) As I stated in a previous thread, only 1 team will make the playoffs from the AFC North this year. (Pre-Brady injury, so that may change). I predicted the Browns would win the division with only 9 wins. Obviously the season is still young and anything can happen, but I don't think we can win the division without beating Pittsburgh at least once. The next time we play the Steelers in in the last week of the season on Dec. 28th in Pittsburgh.

The road to the playoffs go threw Pittsburgh. I can't believe the Clowns are the only team to have their first two games at home, and they lose both of them.

The Browns played the Cowboys and the Steelers. To some, those teams were favorites to meet in the SuperBowl. At this time, the Browns aren't on the same Tier as the other elite teams in the league. Losing to those 2 is nothing to be ashamed of. A Romeo Crennel team has been historically slow to get out of the gates. Hopefully next time we meet, it will be to decide the division.

BTW, if you're going to dog on Cleveland and tout your beloved Stoolers, at least you can do a spell check before hand. I realize you yinzers don't take pride in spelling, but let me give you a brief lesson:

WRONG: The road to the playoffs go threw Cleveland.
RIGHT: The road to the playoffs go through Cleveland.

That is the problem, you should be ashamed of losing both games, especially the one against the Steelers, until then your team will always be behind the Steelers.

It was a mistake on my part, thanks for pointing it out. But it's not a spell check problem, it was spelled correctly, it was a grammar problem. BTW...at least I can spell dog. Most of the people in Cleveland spells it DAWG, and they are proud of it.

You have to go after someone because your team sucked last night, all week I was quiet, and you were ranting how your team was gonna destroy the Steelers. When they lost for the 10th straight time against the Steelers, you have to go after me for a mistake in grammar. Yeah I should of checked it before I posted it, that's my fault, but if you have nothing else, maybe you should grow up.

The real question isnt the playoffs. Its when will Romeo be fired?

Unless we start 0-4, a coaching change won't happen until the end of the year. Also, he doesn't deserve to keep his job if this team fails to make the playoffs this year. Romeo's definitely on thin ice.....

Romeo.............on thin ice????

I hope there's rescue boats in the area because the ice won't hold. :D

Lol. Thanks for the laugh Bill. It's been a rough weekend.

After sitting through Hurricane conditions yesterday, watching my team lose again to our rival and coming home to no electricity (still without power), it's definitely been an adventure.

Weren't weather conditions the same for both teams? Hang in there, Matt, you're team will get better, after all, they're not the LIONS.

Yes, but I would say the Browns offense hinges greatly on their passing game, where the Stoolers rely heavily on the run. With 70mph wind, a lot of our aerial attack plans were taken out of the playbook.

Now the strange part is that the Steelers ended up beating us by a few pass heavy drives and a TD pass/catch in the endzone. I think Tom said it best, "They adjusted at halftime, we didn't." Go figure.

Hope that gets fixed soon. Remember that huge blackout a few yrs. back?

Yes, how could I forget. Unfortunately I still haven't shelled out the dough to get a generator, so I'm stuck waiting it out. Apparently over 300,000 are still in the dark here in Cleveland.

I do consider myself lucky in going to the game in person yesterday though. I can't even begin to imagine how upset I would've been if I was at home when the power went out and had to miss that game.

It could be worse, HD.

At least you're not a Lions, Bengals, Dolphins, Chiefs, or Rams fan.

Or is it? These other cities you mention have alternatives to distract them. This year has been the season of disappointment so far here in Ohio.

Detroit has the Red Wings and Pistons.
Miami has nice weather.
Kansas City has Missouri CFB and good BBQ Sauce.
St. Louis has Missouri CFB and good Ribs.

Not sure what to say about Cincy. There teams are a disaster right now. Must be an Ohio thing. ;)

The only football teams of Clowns in Ohio is the one that always goes to jail.

The arrest jokes are officially old now. Why? Because do you know how many arrests the Bengals have had in the last 6 months? The same as or less than EVERY OTHER NFL team. The Jags are the new jailbirds. Keep up.

Pick on the Bengals because they SUCK--that's a good enough reason.

WOW, doing spell checks now HM ?????

How about your spelling, of course you know that it's the STEELER's not the Stoolers right ? :D

Gee, I thought Big Ben threw the ball REALLY WELL last night in the inclimate weather.
Of course one of Ben's first ever NFL games was in a monsoone in MIami, it might have been his very first game.
Ben was 12 -19 with a few drops from the usually reliable Hines Ward.
