Little Big Planet for the PS3

What's the big deal?! Would they have recalled the game if a soundtrack had words from the Christian Bible, Dhammapada, Tao te Ching, or Bhagavad Gita? I know, it's all about politics and preventing potential lawsuits, but sheesh. It's pretty ironic that one of the most non-threatening looking games, rated E at that, would run into the problem of having potentially offensive content.

Mine's pre-ordered from Circuit City, but I can only assume this recall means even they hadn't shipped them out yet.

Just got the email from Amazon. They should release a demo for all.

"Hello from Amazon.com.

We're writing about the pre-order referenced above for LittleBigPlanet (ASIN B000ZKA0JG), scheduled for release on October 21, 2008.

The game publisher, Sony Computer Entertainment, notified us that there will be a delay in releasing this title, and we will not be able to deliver it to you by the estimated delivery date provided in your order confirmation.

When Sony Computer Entertainment announces a new release date and we know when we can fulfill your pre-order, we'll send you an updated delivery promise via e-mail.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for shopping on Amazon.com."

Wasn't the beta/demo supposed to go public this week anyway? I thought I read that somewhere.

Not sure. Don't really follow the PS3 releases, like I do with the 360 ones. I'll have to check it out.

The Beta has been released (at least to game journalists) because they've been discussing their impressions of it.

Hey, after seeing what that bunch did to the Danish newspaper offices who printed that picture of Mohammed, they figured it would be good to avoid Jihad and just change the tune and repress the discs.....

I think just applying the patch would have been better, which they're doing anyways. I really don't see the need for repressing.

So now that the delay has passed and the game has been released (although us Gamefly faithful have to wait until Oct 30th for some reason..) does anyone have any thoughts on the game (assuming you've played it of course)?

Beta was nifty, but going to pass until the price comes down probably. If I buy a game this week it will be Fallout 3. Just don't have the time patience for a sandbox platformer, and most of my friends are still 360 only.

I ended up canceling my Amazon order. Will probably be an Xmas gift for the kids.

Pretty cool little game. Picked mine up yesterday while pre ordering resistance 2. Seems like a limitless amount of things you can do

Looks like there have been some online play issues this week:
PS3 News: LittleBigPlanet Plagued By PSN Issues

No problem for me since I'm still waiting to get my pre-ordered LBP from CC (didn't ship until Wed. 10/29 )
By the time I get the game and beat the single player mode I'm sure the problems will be fixed. I had to wait until Thursday to have it ship out from PA, so I probably won't get it until Monday knowing my luck.

alright so I am waiting your word on if this is good or not, I sold my PS3 to get just a normal Bluray player, but I miss my ps3 for this game, and killzone 2 and a couple others, I have the Metal Gear Solid Pack coming to me this week, I am interested in seeing what you have to say! let me know.

It might depend on your tastes and if you're a platformer kind of person. I've only played for a few hours in single player and 2-player offline, and so far it's delivering on all the pre-press hype and reviews. It's cumulative score on metacritic.com is 96, which is very high: LittleBigPlanet (ps3: 2008): Reviews

As someone whose only been gaming for a year (today's my one year anniversary of buying a PS3 ), it's easy enough for me to play, but still poses plenty of challenge (I'm not yet able to find and access all the treasures on even the first few levels). The Story Mode can be likened to LEGO Star Wars, in which you do a lot of exploring, searching, and problem solving in order find and acquire all the hidden goodies, which then serve you in the design of your own levels (something the Star Wars game of course lacks). Unlike Star Wars, there's no gun play or flying around in space ships, though using the jet packs is really cool.

My girlfriend (who doesn't play many games) joined me in two player mode last night and thought it was a hoot. She especially liked customizing her own character.

It's definitely on the cutsy side, like playing around in a PBS children's program. But if the thought of using your creativity to design your own levels and share them with friends and the PSN really interests you, and platforming with thoroughly customizable characters through a wide variety of environments, then this game is a must have.
