New XM Lineup

The only thing that I do not like is that there was no advance warning on the XM website that this was happening. Most of us here knew, because we are sat junkies, but for the casual listener that is not into this it must have been a shock to see that there channels just up and vanished. Yet another instance of Mel not giving a hoot about his customers. I am just wondering where is the ala-carte pricing menu that they promised the FCC when the Commission agreed to this? To quote Judge Smails "Well, We're waiting"

Cinemagic moved along with On Broadway to ch 76 & 75 respectively. Somebody asked.

I was excited this morning to get a number of my favorite Sirius channels on XM. My new presets include:

18 Elvis Radio
55 Radio Margaritaville
58 E-Street Radio
73 Siriusly Sinatra
86 The Joint

It was a big surprise when I took the kids to school this morning. My daughter was first to notice that a couple of her favorites had changed but as long as she still gets 20 on 20 she is OK.

Overall we are pretty happy to have lots of new channels.

My son wants Metallica to come back (me too)!

I'm glad my XM Online Radio Windows sidebar gadget still works after the flip, at least for the channels I listen to. It doesn't include channel number changes, or new channels. But it still tunes in to 47, 48, and 202. For those interested search for "XM Online Radio 1.5".

My big beef is that we lost Backspin. I'm not a big rap fan, but I really like old school stuff.

Hmmm...and XM dropped The Rhyme, which was the same thing.

I understand the need to consolidate. I even understand that Mel is too stupid to see why Fred and 1st Wave are complimentary, not redundant. But why are they dropping entire formats like Old School Rap and Punk. Shouldn't we be getting MORE variety, not less?

Today, I turn it on, and both channels sound like the old XM Vox, which I see is now gone. Its new age classical which will have a guitar, and percussion kit in there.

I hadn't noticed this...didn't bother to check, because how can you screw up a format that hasn't changed in 100 years? But XM Pops seems fine right now...I heard Hayden and then Pachabel. The Symphony Hall channel seemed normal, but whatever they were playing I didn't recognize. That could mean that it's something only a hardcore classical fan would know, or it's just lame new-agey stuff.

Other notes

-EVERY time I turn on my old SkyFi, it tunes into a "This channel is off the air" stream for 15 seconds or so. However, I leave it on 202, which is one of the few channels that didn't change at all.

-The Q&A said that if one of your presets is retired, it would automatically tune to the closest alternate format. When I hit the preset for The System, it tuned to NPR. IDIOTS!

-I thought it was funny that Opie was complaining this morning that Audio Visions was gone when he got up this morning. Funny that the "shock jock" was missing the new-age channel, and funny that even people who have their own channels weren't informed of the changes.

-Ron Bennington confirmed that Unmasked would continue and would now be on "Raw Dog" Comedy. The tone of his voice indicated he finds the name as idiotic as I do

Thank goodness XM's Top Tracks and Big Tracks are gone. Those channels sucked they were all over the map you could never count on a solid format. It could go from good Classic Rock to really LAME old Top forty stuff.

RIP Top Tracks, its replacement is VASTLY better, as is Big Tracks. I'm mostly happy with the new lineup so far. Not happy about the loss of XM's Blues channel though.

Looks like I'm one of the few people overall who are happy with the merger and the combination of content. Go figure.

I am happy with the combination myself...got to keep the Sirius stations I liked the most, and got some of the few XM stations I liked on top of them.

All good for me, but I am sorry for those that lost stations they liked. :up

Ok now on my myfi display for siriusxm stars says xm 155 sirius 102 but they are still broadcasting two diffrent programs on them channels.

Anyone know what's going on here and it they will have the same programing soon?

I liked Sirius CLassical programing better. I had to go to XM when I leased my new car in Feb. I hope they bring the Sirius Classical play list over.

so far I am liking the new changes, I'm a sirius subscriber, and to be honest the only thing that's keeping me leery on switching to XM is MLB. if it's not on next spring with the best of package, I'll most likely switch then. (I'm under no contract, so I can switch or cancel whenever I want to). I noticed less of the annoying top 40 feel this morning on the 90's on 9, maybe it was just me on that opinion. XM subs sorry for losing some of your favorite channels, but personally I'm liking my system more than I did when i got it. this IMO is a happy medium, at least for me anyway.

I'm also liking at least what I'm hearing on Sirius 60. I'm a former XM sub and when I bought my new car it had Sirius. I missed some of the XM16 programming, and it appears that its now on Sirius 60 as well, and it also seems like less repeats. We'll see if this continues.
