DirecTV has completed the early testing of the Widgets functionality for the HR2x receivers. Thank you to the group of members here at Satelliteguys that helped with the phase one testing.

Now, DirecTV is ready to start phase two testing, with a larger group of users.

If you are interested in testing Widgets, please register via this link:

http://www.iamanedgecutter.com/projects/WidgetsCE

This phase of testing will be an "open" test, meaning everyone can read / post about the widgets testing.

There are still things that have to be activated on your DirecTV account before you can access/use widgets. That is the purpose of the signup page. DirecTV will add users over time. Not everyone will be turned on at once, but more users will be added each week.

Lastly, as Widgets testing starts up, we will have a dedicated sub-forum in the CE area for the widget testing! Look for this in the coming days.

Key things to remember:
  • All CE rules apply -> No calling Customer Service, and no posting outside the CE area.
  • Not everyone will be activated for Widgets immediately, be patient (remember VOD).
  • Lastly, have fun! Widgets has the ability to support custom user created things that can be put on your widget bar. If you are good with web-code, you may enjoy creating widgets.

For now, get registered, and watch your email!

Thanks in advance from DirecTV for helping test Widgets, and Thanks for being SatelliteGuys!

I know what widgets are in relationship to OS X. But what are directv widgets?

Similiar concept. You select widgets to show on your receiver via a dedicated Directv web site.

You press the right arrow on your remote control, and in about 5-10 seconds you have a "widget bar" on the right of your screen.

I'm at 438,
I too hope they have Sports widgets, wonder how up to date they would be, how current ?

Jimbo

Well I already have sports updates on my computer and it ain't worth squat. That said, anything would be an improvement and one can only dream that it'll be up to ESPN standards. :D

Cheers,
Robin

Interesting. An extension of the record from the directv website only selecting which widgets to use.
