NFL 2008-09 Season

You better look again son, he did NOT lead with his helmet, you can clearly see (even on this youtube video) that he hit him clearly with his shoulder ...

And the Steeler's BRUTAL schedule continues !!!
Next Up, Dallas, Baltimore , Tennessee and Cleveland ...

Jimbo

They need to win at least two of the next four.

please guys don't tare me a new one i just want to give my opinion too. although the hit last night in the steelers game was legal i found it unnecessary too. you could've achieved the same results without trying to injure the opposition. the steelers defense is great to watch though and my favorite of the league. i just wasn't thrilled with this one hit :).

Rey...the hit was not cheap or late. The hit would have been timed perfectly IF the ball was never deflected. THAT is the only reason anyone would call it cheap, because the ball never got there because of the deflection. Had the ball been there, NO ONE would have even considered it a cheap hit.

i can agree with that. :) i know the speed of the game is incredible but do you think he noticed at all that the ball was deflected before he made the hit?

It's sad that a play like that is called dirty, it use to be that if a WR goes to the middle, he will get hit if he catches the ball or not, so they may as well catch it. Now if they don't catch it, the D gets a penalty.

I think because losing a major player to your team cna cause all sorts of issues, I think no one wants to lose a valubale player. I am sure that IF the rolls were reversed, alot of the Steeler fans might be saying the exact thing.

A lot of teams try to hit Ward every week, and he just gets up every time smiling.

I think he was trying to time the hit and took a chance...now mind you, TODAY'S PLAYER wants too much of making a big hit to make the news reels INSTEAD of making the tackle. What if the ball went through and Welker catches AND the player misses the hit....Welker is gone for a long TD and the game is within 4 points and it's a different ball game. Today's player just does not know how to tackle AND hit like the players of the 70s use to.

But Ward is a little guy and from what I have seen, it's hard to get him flush with a good solid hit.

But for a little guy, he can dish out the hits. Holmes got hit hard, I think it was last week, and got a concussion. It's part of the game, and he was better the next week.

It's called football, hard hits are to be expected. I'm not saying to paralyze the guy, but I do expect hard hits from players.

Monday Morning QB: Week 13 Thoughts by HD MM

1. The screams of agony you hear are Jets fans breaking their ankles while jumping off the bandwagon.

2. While Matt Cassel has grown into the QB position and subbed in nicely for Tom Brady, I think it's still extremely premature for the talking heads to compare Cassel to Brady. IMO, that's like comparing Giselle to Ugly Betty.

3. Speaking of Giselle, don't forget to set your DVR's for Wednesday night as CBS will show the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in glorious HD! ;)

4. If there was ever a week for the Giants to lose, I would've thought week 13 would be it. Surrounded by off-the-field controversy and playing the division rival Redskins on the road during Sean Taylor tribute day, there wasn't a more perfect week for them to lose. With that said, I guess the G-Men answered that challenge, yet again! Damn, they look good!

5. Prior to this week, I was yet to be convinced by the Panthers or Falcons. Both made me a believer after this week with big wins on the road.

6. Unlike the Falcons, the Saints are a prototypical dome team. Take them on the road and out of their element and it's amazing how differently this team can look.

7. So much for the Raiders playoff hopes. The lowly Chiefs beat the Silver and Black for the 6th consecutive time! At what point can we discuss whether or not JaMarcus Russell is a bust? (Sorry, Salsa)

8. Speaking of snake bitten teams, my Browns actually had 1 decent stat from yesterdays tough loss to Indy. For the second time in the Peyton Manning era (since 1998), the Colts were held without an offensive touchdown.

9. After losing Brady Quinn last week and our season already in shambles, as a Browns fan, I just couldn't imagine the season looking more grim. Then sure enough, week 13 rolls around and Derek Anderson and Kellen Winslow suffer season ending injuries. Like I said last week. These Browns won't win another game this year. Woe is Cleveland!

10. And finally, my player of the week award has to go to DeAngelo Williams of the Carolina Panthers. His 72 yards rushing and 4 TD's went a long way in contributing to a key road win at Lambeau Field. With this win, the Panthers also keep pace with the first place Bucs in the NFC South.

First and foremost, the Raiders NEVER had a chance for a playoff spot and was never considred a playoff team, even Raider fans knew that.

Again, HOW you call a guy a bust when he has NOTHING to throw to??!! Really...IF JaMarcus had Kellen Wislow AND Braylon Edwards AND Donte Stallworth AND Jamal Lewis....proven receiver and runnings backs....yeah, but he has Ronald Curry, Chaz Schilens, Justin Fragas and Ashley Lelie??!!! Are you kidding me?

HOW good of a season would Derek Andersone would have had with THAT receiving corp??!!

You guys need to see the bigger picture....this is a team that STILL brings knives to guns fights....

The "Raider playoff hope" comment was a joke. I heard some sports casters make this comment last week based on how lousy the AFC West is this year.

Time for our choices for NFL Player of the Week (Unless a Jag or Texans goes nuts on Monday).

My choice:

FP4268~Denver-Broncos-Jay-Cutler-Posters.jpg

Jay Cutler- 27-43, 357 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 34-17 win that not only snapped the Jets' 5-game winning streak, but showed that the Broncos can be a dangerous team if they make the playoffs

(Remember- Denver is one of the intimidating and difficult places to win in come playoff time!

Denver- where Super Bowl dreams go to die!)

Wrong.

James Harrison.

13 Tackles, 10 solo, 3 assists. 2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.

IMO James Harrison should be the Defensive MVP for the year.

I heard you make this comment before and I really don't think that JaMarcus not having WR's around him are the issue with him or this team.

Other teams are successful with lesser receivers:

Look at the Titans who have Justin Gage and Justin McCareins.

Look at the Vikings who have Bernard Berrian and Sydney Rice.

Look at the Falcons who have Michael Jenkins and Roddy White.

My point is, better receivers don't necessarily make a QB. If that was the case, the Lions and Texans would have the best QB's in the league!

And just because a team has good WRs, doesn't mean they will be a good team, look at your Clowns.
