To be perfectly honest. When the VOOM channels were on some people screamed and yelled about the constant repeats (especially on Monsters)..Now the same small (vocal) minority scream and yell about how great the VOOM channel WERE

I thought a mod would know more about vbulliten.:) Click the number of posts on the main page of the forum, and it gives you the breakdown. Control-c, then control-v, and I was done.

I did watch Voom. I did like some channels. I never advocated fully yanking them, but advocated a consolidation of the channels (though I was just a lurker around here before the Voom takedown). So I guess I'm not a hater.

Again, opinion, not fact.

You dissing me? :D ;)

Seriously, never thought to do that. But I will try it now on a different thread. :D

I don't recall saying you were. Consolidation would have been preferrable but in the end Dish needed the money in the bank.

And that is your opinion.
Do you have facts? I do.

Please name any channel now showing that is BETTER and provide the technical details that would back your selection.

I have for Voom:
- 24/7
- No commercials
- All HD
- OAR
- Wide variety covering all subjects
- Set the standard for what to expect from an HD channel which none have met

Someone is always screaming somewhere. Means nothing.

In some countries someone is screaming they have no rice, in the US someone is screaming their rice is overcooked and throw it out.

I think HDNet Movies fits the bill. And it has a better selection of movies. I watched more movies from HDnet Moves than I did on Kung Fu, Monsters, Filmfest, and World Cinema/Voom HD movies combined.

As for other channels, there is one fact that trumps your points: ratings. Yeah, sometimes the stupidity of what most people watch is shocking, but who watches stuff the most rules the day most of the time.

I guess the best way to deal with ''Voom trolls'' or haters is just to ignor them.

Its like a small child screaming for attention. If you pay no attention to them they will stop and go elsewhere.

My holiday wish or gift is 2 fold.

1) I want Dish and Voom to come to an aggreement. Dish to put Voom back on the air.
Make a statement that reads: We at dish welcome back our valued partner Voom.

2) If the above is not possible-I want dish to have their heads handed to them in court!

Im not sure who is right or wrong in this legal case. However, what i do know is that Dish took all 15 channels down in the dark of night.

Anyone who values ''any'' programming should not be ok with this or tolerated.

6 months later its still ''not'' ok!

Ok, so you propose HDNet Movies. What are the technical specs?
That's one channel that might be as good, possibly. I like that channel too myself.

As for ratings, that doesn't apply for 90% of the channels we get from Dish AND even if the ratings are there, money trumps ratings with Dish.

Same specs you quoted. 100% HD. Uncut. Commercial free. OAR. Shows a wide variety of movies. As far as resolution, frame rate, etc., I don't think that would be too different than any Voom channel.

And ratings and money may not be 1 for one, but generally, Dish has a better chance offering HD channels with higher ratings than leaving them languishing while offering lower ratings HD channels.

I guess the HD part of it has the least to do with the channel selection. Most of the "HD" channels are stretched and upconverted still.

I asked you to specify the specs so that they would be listed in your post. Thanks!

All I can say is more HD is better. Voom offered that. 24 hours no commercials. Whats to dislike about that?

More choices for all is a good thing. Right?

Actually, you're one of just 2 posters with more than 100 posts in this thread. I just post to (1) correct non-factual information posted by Voomers, (2) defend what I think was a wise decision by Dish, and, yes, (3) urge you to move on.

Here's everyone with 20+ posts

Interesting that three of the biggest haters are the ones with the most posts. Did someone say antagonizers???? Naahhhhhhh...

And HDRoberts, you say you're not a VOOM hater, but you sure seem to be a hater of people that enjoyed VOOM and still want to talk about it. A little disrespectful, don't ya think?

Uping my post count to reflect recent posts, we have about 185 posts out of 2278. Add in a few more not counted us few, and we represent only around 10% of this thread.

I was a little irritated about the continued discussion with no news, but I'll get over it. My main reasons for posting is to present the other side of the coin. I feel, given all the options, Charlie made the best decision available. I'm more of a Voom pragmatist than a Voom hater. Nice channels, had some nice nieche programming, but did not invest enough in programming to adequitly compete with older mainstream channels just recently making the HD transition.

I certainly don't mean to be disrespectful.

I Have the most posts, I rule. Honestly though I never bashed anyone I just come here and talk about how I feel about the loss of Voom. I dont care if someone hates Voom thats good I like comming to a forum where you can discuss what you like and what you dont. But its the ones that dont like that I am here stating my opinion that really annoy me.
