I'm not looking to curry any favor, but I would rather have 1 or 2 of the VOOM channels than any shopping channels. VOOM offers only 2 channels to their international carriers.

Interesting double-standard, isn't it?

Anyway, I'd be curious too see what that OasisHD is all about, as it seems to be packaged with Voom's HD offerings elsewhere...

Anyways, without attempting to curry favor either, I'll be pulling for the Giants this Sunday bigtime. :)

I am sure Charlie would put up 2 Voom channels if they paid him like the shopping channels.

Oh come on!

If there are 2 channels worth the most, they are Monsters & Rave. The rest of you can fight it out about what comes after that but don't even think these are not the top 2.

OasisHD? I am not sure what that is but some of us seem to be looking for it.

It's like we are all lost in the Voom Desert trying to find our channels again. The heat and the thirst is becoming unbearable! Now someone spots OasisHD!

Now I say to you my friends. And you can quote me on this..

It may be a mirage. :D This is true! After January 20th, if anyone in the good old USA sees anything Voom, you are watching MirageHD. This channel may be very enjoyable to some. There is just one problem with it.

It will be gone when you wake up in the morning.

Oasis HD - Love Nature - High Fidelity HDTV

All I was asking for was if anyone knows the details...

Nice meaningless rant, btw...

I should probably change my sig to 'haters know no limits', but the current polls in the warzone are in my favor... :D

OasisHD channel is on Bell Expressvu. It's not bad and serves it's place, but MonstersHD is (was) better. So if you want it and are in US, you need a sat broker, and to be able to receive their high def signal from sat slot 82.

VOOM: Factoids of the Day...

"VOOM HD fully complied with all its Section 4 obligations. Nevertheless, on November 16, 2007, EchoStar refused to allow VOOM HD to continue to schedule its programming in accordance with its past practices. As a result, VOOM HD was forced to change the programming schedules for VOOM in an attempt to comply as much as practicable with EchoStar's various incorrect, unreasonable and bad faith interpretations of Section 4, while reserving all of VOOM HD's rights and remedies under the Affiliation Agreement."

"As VOOM HD warned EchoStar on numerous occasions, the scheduling changes to VOOM demanded by EchoStar jeopardized the perception and quality of VOOM."

What, that fact that Echostar wanted VOOM to decrease programming repitition and add new programming "jeopardized the perception and quality of VOOM."?

That's an immense pile of steaming crap if I ever heard of one...

Don't confuse facts with factoids. According to VOOM (factoid), they had to INCREASE repeated programming from November through May to comply with EchoStar's demands. If you will recall, EchoStar had been threatening to terminate the Affiliation Agreement since July 2007. It made no sense for VOOM to continuously loop their programming (intentionally violation Section 4) while being scrutinized by E* auditors. That would be akin to knowingly speeding past a police officer with a radar gun. VOOM decided to appease EchoStar as a gesture of goodwill towards a business partner (mistake). Although VOOM objected, they ultimately complied with the request.

VOOM later concluded that EchoStar did this in order to cast VOOM in a negative light to DishHD-Lite customers, and lessen public outcry if E* later pulled the plugon VOOM. (reasonable assumption based on E*'s past business behavior and misconduct). It is a fact that EchoStar signed a "bad contract" and wanted VOOM to renegotiate a better deal. E* wanted out of the Affiliation Agreement and would fabricate anything to do so. If you don't believe me, read what Charlie Ergen said about VOOM in the Charlie Chats (the real immense pile of steaming crap you mentioned in your post).

There is a reason why Eric Sahl, chief programming negotiator, left Dish Network. If you ask my opinion, he did not handle the VOOM matter very well, and he did not leave a paper-trail documenting VOOM's purported Section 4 and Section 10 violations in accordance with the conditions of the Affiliation Agreement...a move that could cost E* hundreds of millions if judged to have illegally terminated the Affiliation Agreement. We shall see...

VOOM: Factoids of the Day...

"EchoStar violated its duty of good faith and fair dealing with respect to the Affiliation Agreement by, including, but not limited to, the following conduct:

  • attempting to fabricate various pretextual breaches of the Affiliation Agreement in an improper and bad faith effort to terminate the Affiliation Agreement and/or coerce VOOM HD into modifying or altering EchoStar's distribution obligations under the Affiliation Agreement;

  • failing to provide VOOM HD with sufficient notice of any purported breach of the Affiliation Agreement in a deliberate effort to deprive VOOM HD of any opportunity to cure any such alleged breach;

  • forcing VOOM HD to substantially reduce the amount of its non-repeat programming on its channels in violation of the spirit, intent and purpose of the programming requirements in Section 4 of the Affiliation Agreement, and thus jeopardizing the perception and quality of VOOM HD's programming; and

  • upon information and belief, criticizing VOOM HD to, amoung others, advertisers, suppliers and other television providers."

Come on riffjim4069. Now you are just spamming the board.

If you loved Voom so much why did you drop Dish? I still say you are upset because you have some type of monetary loss because of the Voom take down.

Voom Fact

Dish contends that Voom has failed to spend $100 million annually on the 15 high-def channels as stated in their affiliation agreement. Based on that contention, the satcaster informed Voom last year that it would move the 15 HD channels to a less watched programming tier.

Voom objected to the plan, saying it would reduce its programming fees and jeopardize its business. Following a series of negotiations, Dish informed the programmer that it planned to terminate the agreement entirely. That's when Voom decided to file the lawsuit and injunction request, which the court rejected on April 23.

The court said Voom failed to show that it satisfied the spending requirement in the affiliation agreement.

Voom rules. Dish is going to lose and Spatch will be very sad. :D

True, if you, like others in this thread only get their "factoids" from Voom statements and filings. Unfortunately for you Voomers, I think the judge will be a little broader in its fact seeking. I have little doubt Dish will be vindicated.

What is new about this lawsuit? I read people quoting from the case filing, are they new or old? If old, forget about it, the judge denied the preliminary injunction request, meaning there was little merit in the lawsuit.

The only thing new is that Voom is no longer distributed in the United States. Even voom's parent company saw no value in it any longer.

No...your not a Voom-hating troll...no, not at all...how could one ever think such a thing....:D

Look...why are you looking to pick fights with people?

Voom rules. Dish is going to lose and Spatch will be very sad. :D

I believe my name was called out. That was just my response. If you don't like it you don't have to read the thread about how Voom went Boom.:D

Hey, if the Voom content does get repackaged and rebranded as separate channel offerings under Rainbow, then remember one thing...

I called it. :D :D :D

And I called it if one of them is called "IFC Grindhouse"...Monsters, Kung-Fu, and maybe even some of the GuyTV stuff.

How about "Fuse Live" for all the Rave stuff. "Sundance International"?

And didn't Rainbow try TWO different spinoffs of AMC that never got off the ground? There was American Pop, which may have actually existed in a few places. But there was another idea that people were jokingly calling "American Movie Classics Classic." Basically, it would have been like the old AMC and competed with Turner.
