12060 V 26700 still showing as test 11 and 12 assuming it is those stations as I didn't look to long

Thanks for the info...but we normally don't announce this sort of thing in public. Enjoy it while it lasts. Most of us feel it leads to unencrypted feeds going scrambled.

What I've never understood is why this site uses Lyngsat as the arbiter of what's supposed to be unencrypted. Sure, they don't list feeds, just full-time channels, but they've listed plenty of commercial stuff that's temporarily gone unencrypted. Example right now, Music Choice. Example from last year, Globecast's Croatian channels.

Fox News was FTA for months if not longer on that transponder, but a day or two after it got listed as such on Lyngsat, they started encrypting. Unfortunately archive.org doesn't seem to archive Lyngsat anymore so I have nothing to back that up with. It could have been coincidence but I tend to think otherwise. What's strange is that the uplinker enabled the encryption on it, and then immediately disabled the encryption on a different channel, as if there were some limit on how many channels could be encrypted.

There are still some FTA things on Ku that I'd bet many of the people here don't even know about (I'm sure I'll find lots more once I have a BLSA). I don't like keeping them secret, but I would hate to see them go away on account of my carelessness. Yeah, there are sites that list some of these things, but listing them on Lyngsat is different IMO because it's a high-profile site that lots of people in the broadcast industry know about.

Machman, I'll have to take your word on it, but I don't remember seeing NatGeo listed as FTA on lyngsat, and it's not listed as FTA now. That seems like a pretty quick reaction time for lyngsat, a site that is notoriously out of date ;)

Hello all,

Just a reminder, Lyngsat is updated as individuals send their "spots" in. For instance if no one emailed "RTNWEST", for example, it would not appear. It is out of date due to lack of "spots". I have a love hate relationship with Lyngsat. On one hand it is very handy. On the other hand, an uplinker due to restraints such as market agreements or royalty agreements, etc.; may be forced to encrypt if it is discovered he is in the clear.

Mike Kohl's MPEG list seems to be 1) in a better format, 2) more up to date, 3) less known about.

Perhaps, Mike, a forum member, can chime in as a longtime list keeper who goes back to the early "TVRO" ( a name we should use as the eye patch crowd uses FTA) days.
