SEC football ventures north...

Yes Mich. Kicked FLA's ass handily. That year FLA didnt deserve to be on the field with Mich they clearly wanted it much more.

But I didnt hear any excuses about the weather being a factor  or "being played in the south" being a factor:rolleyes:
My "favorite" excuse is still "But we wanted to play a team we already beat".
Probably because they couldn't use the "it was your home stadium" one that year.

West Virginia is effectively North of the Mason/Dixon line. Parts of WV are North of Pittsburgh and Columbus. When Virginia left the Union in 1861, West Virginia split off and aligned with the North, and became a separate Northern state in 1863.

Geographically only a small part of WV is north of the latitude of the Mason/Dixon line. Morgantown itself is just south of it.

Starting around 1820 or so, the Mason/Dixon line was considered the border between slave and free states, including not only the original line, but extending from the southwest corner of Pennsylvania up to where the Ohio River crosses the state line. From there it follows the Ohio River to where it flows into the Mississippi, then around the eastern, northern and western borders of Missouri, and out the 36 degrees 30 minutes parallel westward from the southwestern corner of Missouri. The area of WV is considered south of the line because it split from Virginia due to being anti-Secession, not anti-slavery.

Theirs no excuse for an ass kicking like that. Nor was their for the butt kicking OSU took twice in a row.

No excuse for the one Ole Miss put on Tech, or FLA on OK...

I didnt hear OK Fans making excuses about the game being played in FLA.. But if it was Ohio, you bet your ass we'd hear it....

Why on earth would there be any excuse about weather in that game, Fla played at home in wonderful weather, they lost in thier OWN weather.

With all this SEC football talk, I have a feeling someone will put up an NCAA Football thread for the 2009 season.

After all, we have an NFL thread up, and we're still seven months away from kickoff.

Why not put up an NCAA Football thread and have ramy sticky it?

Do we really need a College Football thread ALREADY, baseball hasn't even started yet....
The college guys have nothing going on yet, Signing day is over and no spring practices are being held yet.
5 months till football season .....

I agree, that's probably why the discussion is turning toward IHOPs and Waffle House.

I was thinking the same thing when the 2009-10 NFL thread was started before the Superbowl.

Nah, it's turning because of the anti-SEC sentiment on this board. Too many yanks here. ;) :D

I don't have a problem with the SEC, actually Alabama is one of my favorite teams, they are a good and strong conference.

Probably how people feel about the Big East in basketball.
