Here's a reason to be against a CCG.
M and OSU played every year for a 1000 years now.
IF you go to a CCG that may not happen.
If you put them in the same side, whicj most conferences would not do, then you are eliminating one of your best teams before the season starts, remember, you can only have 2 teams in the BSC.
It's the same problem that the Big 12 had this year.

Traditional rivalries would be hurt, you're right about that - a good reason for the Big 11 to leave things as they are. But, with the bigger conferences having a CCG, it at least allows for the two best teams to play each other some time during the year (in most instances).

FLA plays LSU every go round. Why couldnt M play OSU still?

Thats all, also the fact that your conference was not smart enough to stay small enough to accommodate a full schedule.

I don't see the Big 10 playing a full schedule either.

At least the CCG allows 2 teams that both have the same conference record settle it on the field. If the SEC was the Big 10, then Alabama would have gotten the title, at least with the CCG, Florida was able to win it on the field.

And it wasn't the expansion to 12 that made it impossible for the SEC to play a full schedule. Before the 1991 expansion, the SEC had 10 teams as far back as the mid-60's (when Tulane and Ga Tech left). They have never played a full schedule, but the CCG has fixed that problem.

And the SEC protected rivalries between the divisions, by implementing the permanent inter-divisional opponent system (ala Fla-LSU, UGA-Auburn, etc...).

The problem with the Big 12 is they stacked one side so much that it makes it harder for them. Move OK, Texas or TT to the other side. (of course if I was either of those teams id want to move!)

Well, Nebraska, K-State and Colorado were all good when the Big-12 was formed. They'll be good again. All things move in cycles.

You could do the same with the SEC, teams go thru cycles, some that are good now , won't be in a few years and vice versa .....

No, the SEC has never had a schedule where everyone plays everyone. The conference has never had less than 10 teams (started at 13, dropped to 12, dropped to 10, went back to 12), thus it couldn't do a "full" schedule.

Adding the CCG now allows them to avoid co-champions (which has happened in the past, and would have happened last year), where the top 2 teams never got to play each other.

It's really not a problem seeing they allow more than one team from a conference now.

I really wished the Big East had a CCG, I know when the Big East BB championship happens, there is nothing like it.

I can live with that. Trying to divide the conference would be hard. First off we need another team, to even things out. Besides I like our (MICHIGAN) last game the way it is. There is something to be said for tradition. I'm not interested in any set-up where we may end up playing "that evil school from the South" twice in one season. Not scared, (even if they do have our number, currently), I just don't want any splits. One game, one winner, bragging rights for the year. Plain and simple, just the way I like things. That being said, none of this matters, see as that I have no say in the matter, other than here.

Its great to play your rival twice. In 1996 FLA played FSU in regular season as always. FSU beat them... Then they both made it to the title game in which FLA won. It was great for fans of both schools the trash talking was classic

We have already used up all the trash talk around here. Me and Jimbo used it all up the first time the two of us went head-to-head a few seasons ago. Now it's just the same old, same old, every year. Or maybe I'm just too old for it all....

IF they played twice, it would inevitably prove nothing ....
If Paul's team won the first game and My team won the second, what does that prove ..... you have NO winner.
Only way that would work is if one beat the other twice in a year.
