It is only available in the Atlanta dma. It is not available anywhere else including other dma's in GA.

Directv opened up Peachtree (WPCH) last year for their customers to watch the games, why can't Dish do the same for their customers? I would gladly pay extra if it were added to the Sports package at Dish.

I wish Dish had a real sports package.I mean pay anywhere from $10 to $15 a month for all the sports channels that would be sweet.I would pay that much for it.

I had the multi sport package and its a real joke.Everything is blacked out.I realize you can get Big Ten network and a couple of others but to me its not worth the money. The RSNS arent even fulltime.I believe that is about to change from what I hear though.I realize the broadcasters have alot of control of the blackouts too.,and Dish has no control over that.

Dish is not really into providing comprehensive sports. It costs too much. It's the primary question you need to consider when looking at Dish or DirecTV.

Do I want sports channels?

I would pay $10-15 a month for a sports package that would carry the Braves games, but I guess that will never happen on Dish, so now before the season starts, I will have to make up my mind to either stay with Dish or go with Directv. I wish it wouldn't come to this but 46 games is too many to miss. If I could subscribe to MLB.com I would get that but it is blacked out in my DMA too.

If I'm not mistaken, Dish did not carry Peachtree for the Atlanta area until sometime after baseball season. I know they had it by December. One of the uplink pros could answer that. I don't see why Dish can't or won't redistribute the 46 games via one of the ALT channels just like Direct, Comcast, or Mediacom, to the Braves DMA (Alabama, Mississippi, etc.). The problem with trying to find out is no one knows the answer to the question at Dish. When you ask, you get the same "canned " answer. There is no reason why anyone in the Braves DMA with Dish should not be able to see the games on Peachtree. Whether or not they come through this season remains to be seen.

MudDuck28, I agree, Dish should open up Peachtree on a Alt channel just for the Braves games like Directv does for their customers. I hope they realize how many customers they will lose this year if this doesn't happen, but I guess they don't care about us that really loves the Braves and they won't miss my $100 every month. As I stated before, I would gladly pay extra for this to be added as an Al Carte channel....I will keep my fingers crossed until the season starts and go from there.

If Peachtree is an OTA channel in the Atlanta DMA, I'm surprised that DirecTv or Dish can distribute it to other DMAs - unless Peachtree is still grandfathered in as a superstation under it's old moniker WTBS. Any insight on this?

If they are distributing only the games - for which MLB has completely different DMA rules than Neilsen - there's no issue at all, assuming they negotiate an agreeable contract.

The question nobody seems to be able to get an answer to, is will they or won't they?

It is my understanding that directv opens up this channel for the Braves games only and when the game is over it is shut down, regular programming is not seen.

You are correct bumblebee8. In the Mobile, AL area, Direct, Comcast and Mediacom open up an ALT channel just for the Braves broadcast on Peachtree. After the game, the channel is shut down until the next Braves broadcast. Peachtree is strictly an Atlanta only channel. But the provision was made to allow the broadcast of the Braves games to the Braves DMA through cable or satellite providers that have a transmission agreement. We know Dish has Peachtree in the local Atlanta market. What we don't know is if Dish has an agreement to allow them to transmit the Peachtree games to customers in Alabama, Mississippi and the rest of the Atlanta Braves DMA, and if so, will they do it. No one in customer service has a clue. I hope they come through. I guess we'll find out in April.

Peachtree TV

To all Braves' fans:

Are we going to get Peachtree TV this year or will Dish ignore us again? Is Direct TV going to carry it again? I know our cable system is picking up the games again this year.
