Magnigyro's dish Farm
Now that is something else! I love to see pictures of ingenious setups that are not too elaborate! You got it down to an art my man!

Thanks for posting these magnigyro!

Who needs a motor? Defiantly not you! That is an awesome job! Thanks again for posting! Your post needs to be moved to the Dish Farm part of the forums!

See it is linking to thread page 9 now there! Great!!

Yes, I agree with Smith.
Pull the camera back and take a picture of all the dishes (or most of them).
That should be quite a sight!

Total 20 lnbs, 19 functional, good q. How many RX? What that mean? If you ask for FTA receivers I have nine...:)

Sorry, RX is communication speak for Receive. I meant receivers. TX for Transmit and RX for receive.

Wow. 9 receivers and 19 LNB's working. That would be cool, but, I have a wife factor. She said I can have as many dishes as I want, but, with as many as you have, she would put an end to it at probably 3 even though she said I could have as many as I want. We don't really have room, and I don't think my HOA would like 10 dishes on my roof! That would make my house look bad anyway, but, it would be funny to see what kind of reaction it would get in the neighborhood!

Instead, my wife, son, daughter and me (of course) are very happy because each has favorite channels in own TV! :):hungry:

I have seen no reaction of Neighbors... but his tall trees make me mad!!

Umm, may I suggest some improvements in your photo sessions ? ;)

Sunny day would be better, plus little calculation - area of the dishes in one shot should take less then 1/3 area of whole picture.
Also we missed 'concrete' landscape shot. :)

everyone's a critic:

:D - We get the idea, but could you re-shoot that first picture at a different time of day with some sun on the dishes?
I'm with Smith on the #2 picture - back off a bit more.
I'm anxious to see the 'concrete landscape', too!

Hey, don't take it personally - :up
If we didn't think you were hiding a beautiful dish farm, we wouldn't bother you! -

... and I don't suppose ya have camera with more pixels...? :)

magnigyro: Impressive setup you've got there. Many of us have fixed dishes, but very few have ever taken the concept to its logical conclusion. You're not quite there yet though... have you ever thought about C-band? :D Seriously... there are at least half a dozen satellites that deserve a Mini-BUD.

Yes I can, but you will watch exactly same, only more brilliant;)

If I back off a bit more, I fall down!

Sorry, If I knew what 'concrete landscape' is, I would like to see it too, but the concrete is so ugly is not a landscape in all.:p

Ohhh, thanks guys...all I did it all personally (with your help of course) but the mechanics in not for me, I find the signal in 5 minutes, instead I require 50 minutes to put lnb in his place and your lovely concrete take me 1 day long, besides blood, sweat and tears...

Thanks, sure is it no beautiful, but I demand myself that the results are functional, by example I just move the dish pointing 43W because I hate to see any pixelation in normal conditions..

... and I don't suppose ya have camera with more pixels...? :)

Thats all I have...but set up with more resolution can help.:p

Jejeje, of course, that is my next step, but only when there is no more ku band birds to catch...! In my ranch I have enough room for buds and mini buds...but...Do you think I dont lost my mind with so much channels to see?? :hungry:Mmmmmmm....No....I dont believe it....already I´m crazy...:D

How mini can I go? 120cm??

What could I expect to get?

I am a C-Band Wannabe for sure, and if I could find a 120cm if that's what it would take, then, I might look!

Which sats would give me good results?

76cm is probably the practical lower limit, but 120cm will give you a narrower beamwidth and almost three times the gain. I can't tell you how many additional channels that translates to, but I'd guess between 2 and 4 times as many. So, it's really more a question of how *big* you're willing and able to go.

What could I expect to get?

With a 120cm, you should get most DVB with a 3/4 or less FEC ratio at 58W, 72W, 89W, 91W, 99W, 103W, 107.3W, 113W, and 121W. (Take that with a grain of salt... I don't have anything bigger than a 90cm so I based that on extrapolation from my results, and on other people's results). I might be forgetting one or two there. A few of them are so powerful that 5/6 FEC becomes easily doable (e.g. 91W).

If there are any specific channels you'd like to get, just ask and I'm sure someone can tell you whether it is feasible. Of course, not everything is listed on Lyngsat so you're likely to get some nice channels that you didn't expect, as well as temporary feeds which are often very powerful.

Sadoun is having a sale on Fortec 120cm dishes right now: $200 shipped. You'll also need a motor that can handle it, an LNB holder, and a conical scalar ring. The LNB holder and conical scalar are being sold here.

(Iceberg: you might want to break this off to a new thread since we aren't talking about dish farm pictures anymore :))
