I found this picture for a dish cluster on a building in Bangladesh. I am not sure if it is real, but it looks ......... can't describe it. Diffidently photoshopped.

Just for fun

Hello fellow FTA'ers

Attached are a couple shots of my recent project, a free Radio Shack 10' C-band dish. Sporting a C/Ku LNB tho recently upgraded to a DMX741 C/Ku.

In the first photo you'll see the analog Toshiba 2200 pulling in Classic Arts Showcase
Second photo shows the home engineered combination steel/mag wheel,
pneumatic air/water ballast system. Close inspection will reveal the hi-tech wedges for fine tuning the arc, using, of course, pressure treated lumber.

My question for the experts is what is the recommended air/water mix for the
pneumatic part of the system? :D

Puttin the fun in FTA. ;)

Growing

Hello, I finally got my dishes moved. I had ran out of room and needed more space so I moved them away from my house. I had just one working before today it was the dish on the left ( true focus) 1 meter dish, I added 2 more poles thursday and then set the 1.0 channel master and moved both my muzak 1.2 to their new home. I got them all tuned in today. Have not ran all of the coax from where they come out of the pipe I burried with 6 coax in it. I did manage to get one sat working for the night 83 my favorite. I have to hook up the rest of the 1x4 disecq switches and the zinwells as I get more dual lnbf and bury the rest of the coax.
I will have one on sat 83, 97, 101 and 123 or what ever has more than 123.
I plan on putting a motor on the channel master. Sadoun had a great sale on them on ebay and I got one friday and it should come next week and I can start the conversion to make it motorized. Thanks for looking.

Here's an update from before:

From the left:
1m Prodelin was on 123º now looking for a new target.
80cm Fortec on 123º
180cm Fortec on 121º
90cm 3ABN on HH-90 - 74º to 129º
90cm Fortec on HH-120 - 74º to 129º
87cm ADTH on 83º
180cm Fortec on 99º

and in the background, an 8 foot Paraclypse is waiting on me to scrounge a NPRM. Or maybe there's a way to set it up without laying a whole mess of concrete in my landlords yard.

The other pic is a ready-to-use multiswitch setup I have been working on. It's not the prettiest, but it crams a lot of stuff in a small space on a scrounged board.

Instead of using four separate 1A power supplies inside and then running four RG-6 cables to power the switches outside, I'm planning to use a 5A 24V power supply inside connected to a custom junction box on the board. There will be ferrite beads on each end of the power wires for RFI mitigation and three fewer penetrations in the door.

Dang. Wonder if I might be creating a ground loop... Old house, hot and common, no ground on AC power....

OMG!!!!!

No way........ I'm sorry but there's just no way I'm going to take it THAT far.
OMG, what does your wife(or GF) have to say about this? OMG.....

All freebee dishes. I do have to buy accessories tho...

Credit cards are not required for PayPal. A checking account will do.

That's my section of the yard...
Nice bunch of dishes. I moved my dishes out of the yard to a spot in the field south side of the house to make the wife happy.. She tells people its my garden.

Update to the Dish Farm

Finally got a BUD up! Mounted it in a questionable location... very limited LOS.
But it can see 121W and that's what wanted

The 75e got a proper Rx only LNB.
A Eagle Aspen 270. Dual output, individual voltage control for both polarities) :up:up:up
It came with a 75e Rx feedhorn instead of the larger 84e Tx feedhorn.
Removed and stored the Tx/Rx unit
Mounted it on the SE side of the house for a better LOS.

And the Direcway hasn't moved much since a platform was made for it.
Too reliable for me to want to mess with it. :D :up

Since Ice posted some new pics I thought I would as well. As some of you know I have dramatically reduced the size of the farm, mainly reducing the number of seperate KU dishes for DSNG reception and placed more of the load on a 2.4 meter Channel Master prime focus. Here are some pics of the way things look now. I plan to do some landscaping around the dishes to make it easier to mow.

Pic 1 is the twins...a pair of 2.4 meter Channel Master SMC dishes with left hand drive. The one on the left is a KU only dish with an Invacom TWF-031 dual output universal mounted to an Invacom prime focus feed. The one on the right is C band only with a Chaparral orthomode feed set up for circular reception and a pair of Cal Amp Pro II LNB's.

Pic 2 is the DSNG dishes. The first dish is a 1 meter Channel Master used for a business venture. The next 3 are 1.2 meter Channel Masters pointed at AMC1 (Invacom LNB), Galaxy 16 (DN FSS bandstacked LNB), and Galaxy 19 (Hughes LNB). Next is a 1.2 meter Prodelin not yet aimed but will most likely be pointed to AMC5. The future plan is that all the 1.2 meter dishes will have DN FSS bandstacked LNB's along with a Spaun 5802 switch so that all the fixed dishes will be available to all receivers with just a single coax from each dish. Last is my DN sub dish which is a 1000.2 with a wing dish for 61.5. Future plans for that is to build my own 1000.4 equivalent dish using a Direcway 74cm dish and single DishPro LNB's and a DPP33 switch for Eastern arc reception.

Pic 3 is an old 7.5 ft mesh dish I am using as a dedicated dish for the radio services on AMC8. It uses an old Chaparral feed with no servo motor since only one polarity is necessary. The amp is a Cal Amp Slimline II.

Pic 4 is the workhorse...a 10 ft Channel Master SMC loaded with a Chaparral Bullseye II feed. The C band amps are a pair of Norsat 8115's and on KU there is a pair of Japan Radio NJR2535S PLL LNB's.

I have 3 fixed and one motorized dish. A 76cm Winegard on 30W, a 90cm on 83W, and an 18in for FTE on E*s.

Lastly, a motorized 1 meter Primestar.
