So is Dish now officially the HD leader?

To be fair, the same thing happened in reverse when D* took the lead a while ago. It is all in good fun for the most part:up
I agree. Dish was leading for a long time and then Direct came from way behind to take the lead for a while and there were many Direct subs gloating as well.

Gloating is such an ugly word,
I'd like to call it ............. WELL GLOATING I GUESS !!!
HA HA HA HA ,
FINALLY VICTORY :D:D:D

Sorry couldn't help it.;):)
:D

I understand the excitement. I would be happy if I were a Dish sub as well. I just don't understand the need to accuse Direct subs of crying and calling them fanboys. Ironically, it takes a fanboy to gloat and put down others. :p

what hd channels does dish have that direct does not
and vice versa what does direct have that dish does not
(but do not include the rsns)
Dish has 11 national basic HD channels not found on Direct:

BET
BET Jazz
FTV
Hallmark Movies
Lifetime
Lifetime Movies
Logo
MavTV
Travel*
WGN*

WFN

Direct has 4 national basic HD channels not found on Dish:

101*
Smithosian*

Fuel
MLB*

Dish has many more premiums in HD (9 not found on Direct). Direct does have 2 premiums in HD that are not on Dish

Direct has sports packages in HD* that are not found on Dish and Direct also has more HD PPV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*The only ones I am interested in and the only ones I have saved in the guide in SD and/or HD (for me personally, it is a 3 to 2 favor with Direct in basic national HD that one has that the other doesn't)

The only thing Dish is the leader in is losing subscriber. Dish prices are way to high on their top tier packages. Direct is smart in that they go after the customer who wants the best by offering better prices.

Dish on the other hand is going after the low tier customer by offering lower prices on their entry packages. Dish hint these customer will change provider by always going for the better deal that is why you're dying a slow death get wise and go after the higher tier customer like Direct TV does.

By the way Dodger how the MLB channel Treating Manny Ramirez.:neener:shh
Better than Manny treated the Dodgers (and the Sox last year as well). I was probably the only Dodger fan that was upset when I heard about the trade last year.

I am currently watching a classic game from 1982 between the Mariners and Yanks on MLBNet and one thing that stands out is how skinny the players of the '80s were (prior to the steroid error).

Well I tryed out that new Remote Access the E* finally launched , I must say I'm impressed.
Worked well, plus you can change the channel on your receiver right from your computer.
I don't have an I- phone so ,I'm not relly sure if you can log in to your account and DVR a program.
But , Most likly it will never get used much.

Is that part of the built in sling feature?

The built in Sling in the new DVRs is a huge DVR advantage feature for Dish, IMO. I would love to have this in the HR instead of paying over $200 to purchase my own Sling.

I'm not sure. It works on my 722 and 622 though. Maybe the changing the channels online feature is part of the Sling Feature.

Leave it to DK...E* subs in an E* forum discuss E* events from an E* perspective...

...and he takes it personal as a D* sub and accuses us of starting trouble.

as predictable as autumn rain...

I know you aren't talking about me here...but gain a little perspective, if you will...

The D* subs, particularly those who are sports fanatics, have been VERY aggressive in their pursuit to convince others of the superiority of their provider. Some of them have been very stubborn and have even bullied E* subs out of threads and forums. Granted things haven't been as bad as of late, but still for some scars may remain. At the end of the day, some of us can be a bit defensive whenever we are having a celebratory discussion amongst ourselves and one of the more 'aggressive' D* subs chime in. You can't blame us for that. We've taken a lot of crap over the years...

But DK, if you are willing to be an agent of change amongst the sub-culture (pun intended :p) around here, then by gosh I believe you! But it starts by not taking little things personal when it clearly isn't. Thats all...not every celebratory discussion is 'gloating'...

cheers...

Hi Ho
Hi Ho

It is back on ignore you go

We always get sick
of your old tricks

Hi Ho
Hi Ho

for the record...this is exactly the type of behavior we do not need around here...saying others are calling people fanboys and babies and then posting something childish like this...

nobody asked him to chime into the discussion and start getting defensive...

They have the most National now, but D* still has a sharper picture, so call it what you will.
The only way to verify this would be to have those whom currently have both to do a side by side comparison.

One may hypothesize this to be the case based on the fact that Dish puts up more channels per transponder so they must compress more. That does not necessarily mean that any degradation of PQ will be noticeable by most.

lol!

The opinions continue. I bet if you asked 100 people you'd get a bunch that say yes, a bunch that say no, and a majority that say they are the same. To each, his own. Good thing we can choose which one we want.
Especially considering that many people cannot tell the difference between a stretched SD image and a true 16:9 HD image.
