Two thing I CAN'T see Iverson accepting:

1. Taking a pay cut.

2. Coming off the bench.

Those two ingredients are a recipe for disaster.

I agree with Drew Carey here. Anyone trying to rationalize Iverson going anywhere is either kidding themselves or has an agenda. Iverson is the last guy you want on your team. Well, tied for last. Don't put Marbury on your team either, unless you're looking to improve down the road when he leaves.

Let him go help Isiah coach at Bikini Car Wash University...

Iverson is desperate because he does not want to retire. And seeing that he does NOT want to retire and does NOT want to play in a going nowhere team like the Clippers....

...he really has no choice does he?

I also remember someone telling us how well Iverson would play in Detroit. Look how well THAT turned out.

IMO, the Iverson trade could be the NBA's equivalent of the Herschel Walker trade;

big-name player goes to team that had contended for years, but fails miserably, while boosting the other team to greatness in the future.

Also, Sandra said from the start that A.I. would backfire in Detroit- good prediction!

I said I liked the trade, I said Detroit traded to try to get instant offense, I said he was a better player the Billups....I did not say he would play "well" or "great" ...

....most of that thread was of you being insulted that I stated I thought Iverson was more of a complete player than Billups....when you completely lost the concept of the WHY I said it was a good trade for Detroit at the time....get instant scoring, shake things up on the team and free cap space for the post 2010 season....

Hell, even someone who follows the Pistons MORE than you and I combined thought the trade was a good idea at the time and somewhat agreed with me....

The Miami Heat and Lamar Odom have discussed a deal that would approach the $9 million salary the free-agent forward nearly agreed to last week with the Los Angeles Lakers before talks broke down, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel has reported.

The Heat, who traded Odom to the Lakers five years ago in the trade that brought Shaquille O'Neal to South Florida, have made Odom a firm offer to return, according to The Associated Press.

Pat Riley, addressing Heat season-ticket holders in a two-day session Wednesday and Thursday that was closed to media, said the Heat were also monitoring Carlos Boozer's status with the Utah Jazz but had not entered discussions on acquiring the forward.

Riley said the team could add Odom, Boozer or both without sacrificing its goals toward 2010's free-agent class, the Sun-Sentinel reported, citing people in attendance at the private sit-ins and sources involved in the Heat's dealings.

Florida's lack of state taxes and other payment options give the Heat the ability to offer Odom a contract matching the scrapped Lakers deal, the Fort Lauderdale newspaper reported.

Sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that Odom had balked at the Lakers' unwillingness to extend an offer spanning more than three years in length.

"There are specifics behind why we pulled it, but that's not something we're going to get into," Lakers public relations director John Black said.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Lakers owner Jerry Buss offered Odom two deals, one worth $36 million for four years and the other $10 million a season for three years.

Odom, who will turn 30 in November, made $14.1 million this past season.

Dwyane Wade, who spent much of his rookie season picking Odom's brain, said he hopes those chats start again soon.

"I want Lamar to do what's best for him and his family because we love him as family, but on the other hand, we want him back home, to come home," Wade said Friday in a telephone interview with the AP. "His house is still there. It'd be exciting to see what happens."

The Cavaliers have signed their third man this off-season as they have agreed to an offer sheet with restricted free agent Jamario Moon. An impressive undrafted free agent in 2007-2008 with the Toronto Raptors, he was then traded to the Miami Heat this past season in the Shawn Marion trade. He is a do-it-all 6-8 forward off the bench with limited offensive skills but oodles of athleticism and defensive talent. He is 29 years old and averaged 7.2 points and 4.6 rebounds on 47% shooting in 25.6 minutes per game last season and according to Marc Stein, the deal is reportedly for two years.

I like him. He is very athletic and a decent outside defender, decent outside shooter. IF you expect nothing but defense, then he is your guy...but do not expect too much offensively.

I think we may have caught the Heat with their pants down. Right now, it seems like all of the talk in Miami seems to be centered around Boozer and Odom rumors. Maybe matching Moon's offer is an afterthought for the Heat and he may very well slip to the Cavs.

As for his skills, I'm perfectly happy with a long defender (minus the offensive game). That is exactly what we need to stop the Turkaglu's/Rashard Lewis' of the world.

Steve Nash Accepts New Deal with Suns

After receiving an improved offer last week and taking a few more days to deliberate, two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Steve Nash notified the Phoenix Suns over the weekend that he is accepting the Suns' two-year extension offer worth an estimated $22 million, according to team sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that Nash is expected to formally announce his decision via his Twitter feed later Monday.

Heat Not Expected to Match Offer to Moon

According to the Orlando Sun Sentinel.......

As it turns out, the Miami Heat has been on the clock for days, with time already growing short with its decision on how to handle the offer sheet extended by the Cleveland Cavaliers to restricted free agent forward Jamario Moon.

While word of the offer sheet did not come out until Sunday, the Heat actually received the offer sheet Friday evening.

Teams have seven days to decide whether to match such an offer or lose the player. That deadline for the Heat, therefore, is this coming Friday.

The Heat is expected to bypass matching the offer, since the multiyear contract would conflict with the desire of Heat President Pat Riley to maximize the team's salary-cap space for 2010 free agency.

During the waiting period, the parties involved, in this case Moon, the Cavaliers and the Heat, can work on alternate contract options and the offer sheet can be withdrawn.

However, should the Heat match the offer sheet, it then would not be able to trade Moon until mid December, and then only with his permission for one year.

Let's be serious here....the ONLY reason he started in Miami was because no one else was mentally and physically ready to assume the role.....period. On MOST teams, he maybe the 2nd guy off the bench. Let's not kid ourselves here....
