Went to my wifes friends house yesterday because he just bought a new flat panel TV and wanted help hanging it. After we were done hanging it he brought out all of his components and asked for help hooking them up correctly. He had a Sonicview 360 premier amongst all of his stuff. I asked if he wanted the SV hooked up and he said ..."No, It don't work anymore so I was just going to toss it"

So guess what? Yep, I got it and took it home plugged it in blind scanned my 97W and 101W.....Wonder what he men't when he said it don't work anymore?...;)

So, How are the 360's?... Any feedback on them?. I searched the forums and only found the manual pdf file.

free is good

You might want to reflash it with factory firmware. Their site is here

Looks like the unit does a PVR is you plug in a hard drive to the USB port...the elite has two tuners but the premier only has one

Nice find

DirectDishNet,

Be prepared for some unusual responses when using this receiver with a motor. I have one (in the closet). I did not purposely go out and purchase this receiver, it was sent to me (free of charge) to beta test. I didn't care for it very much when it came to applying it with a motor.

It reacted very squirrelly. Went east when it should have gone west, went to home or zero when it should have driven to a new satellite position. All sorts of quirky things.

This was especially bad when using USALS. If you set and save several sats using DiSEqC 1.2 first, then it seems to work a little better with USALS.

It was too confusing to me and too difficult to edit sats and TPs so I just told them I didn't like it too much and shoved it in the closet.

It had no problem finding satellites 61.5, 110, 119, 129 and 148 if that tells you anything. It told me something.

Thanks Iceberg, Yea I am trying to load the factory firmware but when I click the "Factory Firmware" it sais windows can not open the file.
Don't know what to do, I do not want to go looking for it on some unknown website and screw something up.

BTW, I tested the other files just to see if they open and they open just fine. Everyone except the 360 premier one. Go figure.

DirectDishNet,

Don't try to OPEN the file. If it needs to be unzipped or un-"rar"d do that, but don't open the file, just load it to the receiver.

Oh,...Sorry I said it wrong....I men't when I clicked the link it won't even load. It won't give me a rar or zip file.

DirectDish, I got the file and the downloader, if you need them. PM me with your email address and I can email them. The site worked with firefox.

DirectDishNet,

That's alright, sorry if I my assumption was unfounded, didn't mean to make it appear that you were naive. I should have known better my friend. My mistake and my apologies as well.

Please check your PMs today.

Thanks everyone... I got it now. I guess my Google Chrome still is having issues. I went ahead and used Firefox and it went smooth.

I got the factory firmware to load just fine. Blind scanned my 97W and 101W.... Played with it most of the evening and could not find any bugs. The 360 works really good and the picture quality is very nice. The channels change pretty quick and seamless. The only thing wrong with this receiver is that the battery cover on the remote is broke.

It is not hooked up to a motor so I don't know if their are any unusual bugs associated with the motor feature.

Thinking about selling it tho because I do have a sonicview 4000 which I have been using for many years and like it as well. And if I do sell it that will bring me just a little closer to the AZbox I am saving for.

DirectDishNet,

I also have found that Firefox works better for a few other on-line applications. One in particular, NASA's J-Track 3D simulator. IE would not allow it to load, but Firefox would at least inform me why and so I was able to install or setup what was needed to run the application.
