If anyone's seen the ESPN 30 for 30 series, it's very interesting.

They've done documentaries on the USFL and the Wayne Gretzky trade.

This weekend, they're doing one that's near and dear to one of this site's members:

ESPN 30 for 30

It basically details the glory days of Miami Football.

I will ASSURE you that it will be the highest rated 30 for 30 that ESPN will have. The person that did this 30 on 30 is the same guy that directed and produced the 2 best documentaries about Miami, "cocaine cowboys" and "cocaine cowboys 2".

They had a great one about Len Bias. Sad what happened to him. Good documentary though. Jimmy the Greek was a good one also. I doubt I watch the Miami one. F the U.

Just yankin' your chain Salsa. I'll probably watch it.

Believe it or not, the one I have MOST enjoyed so far, was the Wayne Gretzky one. I have always been intrigued about how teams have players that are WAY beyond franchise players....and then trade them.

salsa if you have HD, espn is showing this on saturday at 9pm on espn hd!! i have it set on my DVR! enjoy!

I have recorded ALL the 30 in 30s. They premiered The U one last night at The U and it got rave reviews. Alot of folks state that this is the 1st time that ESPN did not put The U in a negative light....and I was told it is quite funny.

How did Salsa's fascination with the Hurricanes start?

I already know the story about how it began for the Raiders

I lived in Miami from '68 till '80. I actually liked Jim Kelly....LOL! And the night they beat Nebraska for the National Championship...against the team I hated the most, Nebraska with that bull**** wishbone....that clicked it on!

I have enjoyed all the 30 for 30 series, Eash one has been intresting, The "U" should be a great one as well. Even though I am in my mid 30's most of the 30 episodes with the footage, have me feeling a bit old...lol, kind of reminds you were you were at when....Len Bias passed, number 99 getting traded and such

THAT was a GREAT 30 in 30!! I learned some things about The U I didn't know!! I have come to realize WHY I liked The U.....they reminded me of the 70s an 80s Oakland Raiders!

And it made me realize, what 2 games(terrible game in the NCG against Penn State and the bull**** call on a fumble against Notre Dame), Miami and Jimmy Johnson more than likely wins 3 straight championships....

And finally, The U DID change college football....

Did you like the year they lost to Penn State? They thought they were great wearing camos, I guess they were wrong.:D

psu didnt beat miami, miami beat themselves

the u dominated every facet of the game including turnovers

the u documentary was very interesting but i expected a lot more.
gretzky's movie was far better imho

I enjoyed that show. I used to like Miami back then. They totally changed college football. It used to be very boring. Everyone used to play the option or wishbone back then. All the coaches were these old school guys who didn't believe in throwing the ball and had 1940's offenses. Miami changed that. And I loved all the celebrating they did on the field. You don't like it? Play better! I HATE how the NCAA cracked down on that. Now guys get celebration penalties even when they didn't do anything and it ruins the game.

And as far as all the off field stuff that went on with Miami all I can is a lot of the other schools back then were total hypocrites. All the big powers cheated back then. This is when Barry Switzer was at Oklahoma, Danny Ford was at Clemson, the whole SEC is corrupt, SMU gets the death penatly, etc, yet somehow Miami was the renegade program. Say what you want about Dennis Erickson but he didn't let his players do nothing that Bobby Bowden didn't let his players do at FSU. And people are now sad to see Bowden retire. F*** Bobby Bowden! I'm glad Miami whipped their ass as much as they did. Those guys were right. Florida St was just a bunch of wannabes.
